Italy says US, UK forces free ship from pirates

By ALESSANDRA RIZZO Associated Press
ROME—U.S. and British forces freed an Italian cargo ship on Tuesday that was attacked by pirates off Somalia and arrested the assailants, officials said.
After the pirates attacked the ship on Monday, the crew took refuge in a secure and armored area where they issued a call for help and continued to navigate the vessel, said the Italian Defense Ministry.
The British and U.S. navies each sent a ship to the area, and the "11 suspected pirates on board the pirated vessel surrendered without force" and were taken into custody, Britain's Ministry of Defense said.
All 23 crew members of the Montecristo cargo ship are now safe and free—seven Italians, six Ukrainians and 10 Indians—the Italian Foreign Ministry said.
The rescue operation was coordinated by Italian Adm. Gualtiero Mattesi as part of NATO's Ocean Shield anti-piracy force, according to the Italian Foreign Ministry. "The danger of piracy has increased" in that region, said Italian Defense Minister Ignazio La Russia.
The Montecristo's owner, D'Alessio Group, said Monday that the attack had occurred 620 miles (1,000 kilometers) off Somalia as the crew was hauling scrap iron to Vietnam on a journey that had begun Sept. 20 in Liverpool, England.
Pirates flourish off largely lawless Somalia by attacking passing ships, taking hostages and demanding ransoms to free them and the vessels.
ships and battling pirates in order to win the release of hostages.
International militaries are increasingly tasking assault teams with boarding
In April this year, a Danish assault team freed 18 hostages after boarding a vessel off Somalia's coast. Three pirates were wounded. Only 10 days later South Korean commandos stormed a container ships and freed the 21 crew on board. In May Indonesian forces killed four Somali pirates after the hostage-takers were paid a ransom and freed hostages.
But for every successful attack against hostage-taking pirates, far more pirates make it back to Somalia with their hostages in hand. A Danish yachting family of five was taken by pirates in February from their 43-foot (13-meter) yacht. The family was released last month.
And one attempted rescue of four hijacked Americans abroad their private yacht went horribly wrong in February when the pirates killed the four as U.S. naval ships shadowed the yacht.
Pirate currently hold at least 10 ships and 251 hostages, according to Cmdr. Harrie Harrison of the anti-piracy military coalition European Union Naval Force.

Human rights debate ended in punch-up

Human rights debate ended in punch-up

Paul Cheston, Courts Correspondent
26 Sep 2011

A human rights conference descended into a brawl within minutes of it being opened by a Labour peer, a court heard.
Baroness Uddin, the first female Muslim peer, had been invited to chair the conference by the International Bangladeshi Foundation in July last year.
But the event was abandoned as supporters of the ruling party in Bangladesh, the Awami League, and opposition Bangladesh National Party, clashed.
A number of delegates were injured.
BNP supporter Sharef Chowdhury, 44, of Bethnal Green, and Awami League subscriber Montor Ali, 37, of East Ham, admitted affray at Inner London crown court.
Judge Austin Issard-Davies sentenced Chowdhury and Ali to a community order with 100 hours' unpaid work.
The judge told them: "It is central to democracy that debate can take place free of violence.
"It is disgraceful that at a meeting chaired by a member of the House of Lords, a fracas like this should take place."
Ahmed Ali, of Canning Town, and Shahreyar Rahman, 34, of Clacton-on-Sea, were cleared of the same charge.

UK marching banned – Govt calls the tune UK freedom of speech is dead

UK marching banned – Govt calls the tune

Published: 26 September, 2011, 09:45

The UK government has granted police the right to prevent far-right groups from marching through five London boroughs for 30 days, prompting concerns that a dangerous precedent has been set in terms of police power and freedom of expression.
Scotland Yard says it applied for the ban over fears of violence and disorder planned by the English Defence League earlier this month.
The view of workers’ rights activists on the Home Office ban on marching is quite clear. “It is an attack on the basic democratic rights of working people in this country,” says Patrick O’Regan from the Workers’ Revolutionary Party.
Through September, in six areas of London, anyone marching as thousands of people did last winter is liable to be arrested and fined, or even imprisoned.
The ban was prompted by plans by the anti-Muslim English Defence League to repeat their February protest in Luton by marching through Tower Hamlets, the area with the highest concentration of Muslims in the country.
But instead of banning one march on one day, the Home Office banned all marches in six boroughs for an entire month. Activist Richard Seymour sees a wider motive.
“Once the ban is passed, that does not necessarily mean to say the march is not going to happen, it just means the police just have more powers,” says Seymour. “And that is a part of the wider problem. If you are restricted to a static demonstration, the police have a right to pen you in and arrest you very easily for relatively small offences or non-offences.”
In Lambeth people still can march, just by pure accident of geography.  It is not one of the six boroughs affected by the ban.
But if, as many fear, the government extends and widens the ban to take in more parts of London, both small and large marches through London and many other cities across the country could be a thing of the past.
The ban comes hot on the heels of widespread rioting in many English cities in August. It also coincides with the introduction of government austerity measures, which some say amount to the dismantling of the entire welfare state.
Many say public fear of civil unrest is being manipulated to prevent unions from turning out to protest fierce cuts. And Patrick O’Regan says it is just the tip of the iceberg.
“They are talking about area curfews, they are talking about shutting down Facebook [and other] social network sites,” he said. “They are talking about dictatorial civil war measures because what they are doing in Britain is creating a historic change, in which inevitably the majority of Britain will oppose them.”
The Home Office can only stop marching – it is powerless to prevent people from gathering. But workers’ organizations argue it is no good just standing there. You have to be able to march in order to make a statement, as the unions did in March, when more than a quarter of a million people turned out to protest the cuts.
Activists say that is exactly what the government is trying to stop.
“Just in terms of where we are at the moment with the process of austerity being pushed through by the government, trade unions are one of the major blocs opposed to that,” said Richard Seymour. “Public order legislation does tend to be used against striking workers. That has been very clear and there have been some recent examples of that – people being pulled off the picket lines. And that obviously weakens any resistance to the cuts.”
Freedom of expression and association are enshrined in UK and European law, with the UK renowned for its powerful union organizations. But the ban gives police the ultimate power to step in and arrest demonstrators merely for exercising their right to speak out against the government. And that is a dangerous precedent to set.

Shariah Law Madness Causes a Big Mac Attack

Court hears how bacon led to Big Mac attack

Mouhamad Khaled and Daphne Austin
Charged: Mouhamad Khaled and Daphne Austin. Source: The Daily Telegraph
IT was a bloody brawl allegedly sparked by a hamburger with bacon. Now 32 witnesses will be called to give evidence at a hearing about how an incorrect order allegedly led to a violent assault on two police officers at a McDonald's in April.
Mouhamad Khaled, 23, his 20-year-old girlfriend Daphne Florence Austin and his father Walid Khaled, 53, have been charged over the brawl at the Bankstown fast food outlet.
In Burwood Local Court yesterday, Magistrate Christopher Longley set a hearing date in February for Austin and Walid Khaled, who have each pleaded not guilty to charges linked to the brawl.
Mr Longley was told the prosecution will call 29 witnesses and the defence will call three people.
Mouhamad Khaled is yet to enter a plea to six charges, including inflicting grievous bodily harm on a police officer, and will be dealt with at a separate hearing.
Police allege the trouble began when the group began abusing counter staff because their hamburger contained bacon.
Police who were on the premises spoke to Walid Khaled about his alleged offensive behaviour. When he allegedly continued to swear, police tried to arrest him.
Police allege they were assaulted by Mouhamad Khaled and Austin, prompting them to use capsicum spray and batons.
As they attempted to restrain Mouhamad Khaled he allegedly grabbed their handcuffs and assaulted them.
He struck probationary Constable Matthew Sutherland on the head before swinging them at Senior Constable Alicia Bridges, hitting her.
Austin is charged with assaulting and hindering police, and Walid Khaled with resisting police, behaving in an offensive manner and offensive language.
Mouhamad Khaled spent four months in custody before being granted bail in the Supreme Court.
Burwood Local Court was told in August that Austin is due to give birth in November

The Islamization of British Police

The Islamization of British Police
Published by Morpheus on 2011/9/26
For those not aware of the political nature of Islam, it might come across as just a cultural amusement to see Islam still deeper entrenched in the British police force. Other countries, like Denmark and France, insist that religion has no role to play in policing. Not so in Britain.
MuslimPoliceWomen.jpgOn September 24th 2011, the Mayor of London sponsored an Eid festival at Trafalgar Square. One of the exhibitions was of how Islam is being integrated into the British police force, a banner presenting key elements of this. Since the police (by definition) is a security force for all British citizens, formally having the objective of upholding British law equally for all citizens, it is meaningful to put the mission statement of the Association of Muslim Police (AMP) under some scrutiny:

First the classical band used on police uniforms, now laced with classical Islamic green. A symbolic way of saying that the intention of AMP is to change the police force. This is corroborated by the first line of the banner, which reads:

“Muslims making a difference to policing”

That's clear enough, and anyone able to parse a straight English sentence will get the meaning of this. The intention is to change policing as such, not merely to protect the rights of police officers who happen to be Muslims.

The mission statement on the banner reads on:

The Association of Muslim Police (AMP) aims to:

Assist Muslims in the police force to observe their faith and to promote the understanding of Islam within the police force and the wider community.

That's clear enough: The want police officers who happen to be Muslims to be more observant of their faith, to promote Islam within the force – as well as outside. This is also known as 'enforcing' and 'proselytizing'. This is not about furthering the self-determination of the individual officers, it is about making them more observant of Islam and follow Islamic practices while on duty.

Further:

Provide a forum for Muslims in the police and support their religious and welfare needs, with a view to improving their immediate working environment and retaining them in service.

Put more bluntly, this is a pressure group working to introduce Islamic rules into the police force, promoting the strange concept of “religious needs”, changing the working environment to be in line with Islamic demands, with an implicit threat that Muslims should not work as police officers unless these demands are met by the force.

Assist in the recruitment and retention of Muslim staff [...]

Now, one might wonder what this discrimination on religious grounds is all about, since usually discrimination is considered a major Evil. But it is surprisingly simple to come across a plausible explanation:

Since the police is an important force in society, having a strong Muslim presence there is an enabler of Islamic codes of conduct, also known as Islamic law, within the force and in the community. How to better implement and protect Islamic law in society than through the very organization that is created to enforce the law? Islamist infiltration of the British police force would be a serious matter indeed. Hopefully the force and the politicians have enforced suitable measures to make sure that this can under no circumstances be the case.

The last line of text reads:

[...] and to assist in the creation of a fair and just working environment for all cultural minorities.

While sounding friendly, this line implies that the working environment for “cultural minorities” is not fair or just at present, a subtle accusation of what would be called 'racism' – so subtly worded that few would identify it and yet fewer object to it.

The 'assisting' would constitute of advice on how to change the police force in order not to offend “cultural minorities”, also known as “sensitivity training”. This, unfortunately, tends to render the police force ineffective in cases where normal police procedure – like the use of sniffer dogs – violates religious law stating that dogs are 'unclean', and the like. Whenever there is a clash between secular and religious law, it is easy to make a qualified guess as to which side AMP will be on.

Before writing this off as 'speculative', it is instructive to see this conflict of interest play out in practice. The National Association of Muslim Police in 2010 rejected the claim that Islam can be blamed for terror attacks. This statement not only constitutes a mockery of available documentation, the stated motivation of the terrorists, and the plight of the victims of Islamic terrorism. It also casts doubt over the ability or willingness of the Muslim police to honestly investigate cases of Islamic terrorism.

AMP, as stated above, consists of Muslims bent on making a difference to policing. This is an ambitious goal which requires resources, and fortunately for AMP, the Home Office is gladly underwriting the project by granting the Muslim police group 15 times more funding than the equivalent Christian group.

Details like having a page on the Metropolitan Police web site as well as an official Metropolitan Police email address endows the Association of Muslim Police with a legitimacy quite surprising to citizens of more secular countries.

There is one more item on the banner worth commenting upon, namely the photo of the Dome of the Rock mosque in Jerusalem. This has become a banner image for Islamists desiring to regain control of Jerusalem. A rather strange choice for an organization officially only interested in changing the policing in Britain. Then, would anyone seriously expect a Muslim organization to fly the Union Jack on their banner? That would, after all, signal loyalty to secular law and Great Britain, potentially problematic for pious Muslims.

Other hypothetical problems, such as the conflicts of interest between Shariah and secular British law, or the risk that the Muslim police might later turn into an actual Islamic police force, are left as exercises for the reader to ponder. He might also ask his politicians a critical question or two on the subject, including the funding and other issues mentioned above.

Man who nailed bacon to mosque door walks free

Man who nailed bacon to mosque door walks free

SPARED JAIL ... John White nailed bacon to the door of a mosque. SPARED JAIL ... John White nailed bacon to the door of a mosque.

A CHURCHGOER who stuck bacon to the door of a mosque in South Tyneside as part of a religious hate campaign was branded “un-Christian” by a judge.

But John White, 63, walked free from court after the chairman of the mosque wrote a letter to court, begging for leniency.
White was caught on CCTV carrying out the attacks in South Shields in January, Newcastle Crown Court heard.
On January 2, the bacon was placed outside the Jam-E-Masjid mosque, in Baring Street, South Shields, which has about 200 regular worshippers.
Throughout the month, meat was repeatedly left outside the mosque and a member’s home in Coston Drive, South Shields, was also targeted, with bacon even being stuck to the front door of the mosque.
Tom Moran, prosecuting, said: “Muslims are not allowed to eat or touch pork, and this was absolutely intended to be offensive.”
The bacon was found by the mosque’s treasurer, who covered it with a cardboard box to prevent other members from being offended, then called the police.
In a victim impact statement, the family whose home was targeted said they feared that the action was the work of an extremist group.
Mr Moran said: “South Shields has a substantial Bangladeshi and Muslim community, and, by and large, they are well integrated. These offences coincided with a time when in other parts of the world, right-wing extremists were threatening to burn the Quran (the central religious text of the Muslim religion).”
Concerned that the attacks could be sinister threats from a right-wing group, police trawled through CCTV footage before arresting White.
He admitted five charges of religiously aggravated harassment, but claimed that his motivations were personal, targeting a particular Muslim family, over a 20-year grudge.
The court heard that White, a Christian, has attended a church on the same street as the mosque for 20 years.
White, of Homestall Close in South Shields, who suffers from asthma and a compulsive disorder, has worked in the town for 30 years, doing building work.
He is said to have friends within the Muslim community, and claims to have worked on some of their houses for free.
He has been held in custody since he entered his guilty plea in July.
Simon Graham, defending, said: “He is thoroughly ashamed for what he has done. He was praying this morning.
“This is a man who has not been in trouble for 30 years. He is not in good health and has had a terrible time in prison.”
White submitted a letter to the court, apologising to the community for what he had done.
Despite the fear he caused to the Muslim and Bangladeshi community, chairman of the Jam-E-Masjid mosque, Mohammed Miah, asked the judge to show leniency.
In a letter read out in court, Mr Miah described how he had known White since 1982 and said he was known and liked in the community.
He said: “We wish the courts to be lenient with John. Although we were upset initially, we do not wish for any serious consequences to happen to John.”
Judge Michael Cartlidge commended the forgiving attitude of the Muslim community and condemned White’s actions as “un-Christian” and “stupid”.
White was given a six-month jail sentence, suspended for 12 months.
He is also now banned for 12 months from going within 100 metres of the mosque or the family home he targeted.
Passing sentence, Judge Cartlidge said: “This is probably the most un-Christian way to settle a grudge.
“You will have to be very careful now, you have upset the community.”

thousands of Muslims rally against "extremism" in London

from Jihad Watch

Our troubles are over: thousands of Muslims rally against "extremism" in London

For years non-Muslims have been asking where moderate Muslims in any significant numbers are actually speaking out against Islamic jihad and Islamic supremacism. And now here they finally are.
Much as I hate to be the one to throw a rotting cabbage onto the sofa, I must yet again point out that Qadri "says killing innocents is forbidden in Islam," but who defines who is "innocent"? Islamic jihadists believe that "non-Muslims are never innocent, they are guilty of denying Allah and his prophet." So if they believe that non-Muslims are never innocent, a Muslim who declares that killing innocents is forbidden in Islam is not going to stop them from mounting attacks against non-Muslims.
And what do they mean by fighting "extremism"? Last year Qadri published a fatwa against terrorism and suicide bombings. "Terrorism," of course, is a tactic, and as liberally as the term is applied in common usage, condemning it doesn't tell us a whole lot. After all, nobody likes terrorism. Abbas at the UN on Friday condemned terrorism, "especially state terrorism," by which he meant that he was condemning the actions of Israel, not of Islamic jihadists. Qadri really is referring to Islamic terrorism, evidently, but what about the jihad imperative to impose Sharia? He said yesterday: "I want to address those who are lost, who have a total misconception of jihad -- I want to send them a message -- come back to normal life. Whatever you're doing is totally against Islam." Do those who have a proper conception of jihad still wish to work in non-violent ways to impose Sharia and subjugate non-Muslims?
Qadri is a member of the Barelvi movement, a Sufi-tinged form of Islam that originated in India and has been violently persecuted by Islamic hardliners. His membership in a group that is considered by the larger body of Muslims to be of doubtful orthodoxy at best makes it unlikely that his stands will gain wide acceptance. And al-Qaeda even infiltrated his anti-terror summer camp.
"Muslims rally against Islamic extremism: London gathering of thousands intended to promote inclusive vision," by Sylvia Hu for the Associated Press, September 25 (thanks to all who sent this in):
LONDON — Thousands of Muslims gathered at a rally in London on Saturday to fight extremism and promote a moderate, inclusive version of Islam. The event’s organizers Minhaj-ul-Qur’an International say some 12,000 Muslims are expected at Wembley Arena. The event will be broadcast live to dozens of countries around the world.
The group’s founder, the Pakistan-born Islamic scholar Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, says killing innocents is forbidden in Islam and Muslims must integrate into the societies in which they’re living.
Some Islamic scholars have warned that a power vacuum in North Africa and the Middle East could lead to militant and extremist groups gaining ground in elections arising from the so-called Arab Spring.
"If these elements come into power, it will be a big disaster," Tahir-ul-Qadri told The Associated Press.
Minhaj-ul-Qur’an International says it represents a moderate vision of Islam that works for peace and integration....

Six men have been charged with terrorism offences, including a suspected suicide bombing campaign, West Midlands Police have said.
Four of the men were charged with preparing for an act of terrorism in the UK, and two with failing to disclose information.
It follows a police operation in Birmingham last week.
The six, all from Birmingham and aged between 25 and 32, will appear at West London Magistrates' Court on Monday.
Irfan Nasser, 30, of Sparkhill, and Irfan Khalid, 26, of Balsall Heath, are accused of preparing for an act of terrorism, including travelling to Pakistan for training in terrorism, making a martyrdom video and planning a bombing campaign.
They are accused of constructing a home-made explosive device for terrorist acts and stating an intention to be a suicide bomber.
Seventh manAshik Ali, 26, of Balsall Heath, is accused of preparing for an act of terrorism, which involved planning a bombing campaign, providing premises for the planning of terrorist attack and stating an intention to be a suicide bomber.
Rahin Ahmed, 25, of Moseley, is accused of helping fund terrorist acts.
Mohammed Rizwan, 32, and Bahader Ali, 28, both of Sparkbrook, are both charged with failing to disclose information about potential acts of terrorism.
It is alleged that between 29 July and 19 September this year, both had information which they knew may help prevent the commission of an act of terrorism but did not disclose the information.
Mr Ali is also charged with providing money for the purposes of terrorism.
The offences are alleged to have taken place between Christmas Day 2010 and 19 September this year.
A seventh man from the city, aged 20, who was arrested on Thursday, continues to be questioned. Officers have until 29 September to charge, release or apply for further time.
The men were arrested as part of an operation carried out by the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit. The arrests were unarmed, pre-planned and intelligence-led.

The truth about polygamy: A special investigation into how Muslim men can exploit the benefits system

The truth about polygamy: A special investigation into how Muslim men can exploit the benefits system

Ghulam is a taxi driver who lives in Blackburn, a once-booming textile town in Lancashire. He has a terrace house near his local mosque (one of 53 in the area), a silver Nissan car and a very complex private life.
For he has so many children that he struggles to remember their names, and five wives from various countries, including Yemen, Egypt, Turkey and his own birthplace, Pakistan.
Ghulam’s latest bride is a shy 20-year-old called Hafeza. He brought her to Britain from Morocco, soon after his 45th birthday earlier this year. They married in an Islamic wedding ceremony called ‘the Nikah’ in her village, with Hafeza’s pleased parents among the guests.
Two experienced Lancashire social workers say that in their estimation there are 20,000 bigamous or polygamous unions in the UK
Two experienced Lancashire social workers say that in their estimation there are 20,000 bigamous or polygamous unions in the UK
Thirty miles across the Pennines in Yorkshire, pizza delivery driver Wasim, 27, has an equally complicated domestic life.
He lives in a part of Dewsbury called Savile Town, a network of 11 terrace streets dominated by one of the biggest mosques in Europe, where most residents are Asian with origins in Pakistan or India.
Wasim has three wives, the first of whom lives with him and their three teenage sons. His other two wives have separate houses in Savile Town, one down the road and another round the corner. He visits each two nights a week.
The women have had several of Wasim’s children and he hopes the youngest bride (aged 19) will soon present him with another baby.

I learned of Ghulam and Wasim this week while investigating a subject that is taboo in politically correct Britain. It is the huge rise of bigamy (having two wives) and polygamy (more than two) in our Muslim communities.
The issue was recently bravely highlighted by Baroness Flather, a crossbench life peer who was herself born in Lahore, now part of Pakistan.
She warned the Lords (and also wrote an article for the Mail on the subject) about how our shambolic benefits system is being exploited by men hailing from Pakistan and other Muslim nations who indulge in multiple marriages — with taxpayers forced to foot the bill.
As Baroness Flather explained: ‘The wives are regarded by the welfare system as single mothers, and are therefore entitled to a full range of lone parent payments.
'As a result, several “families” fathered by the same man can all claim benefits, as they are provided for by the welfare state, which treats them as if they were not related,’
The issue was recently bravely highlighted by Baroness Flather
The issue was recently bravely highlighted by Baroness Flather
Lady Flather also lamented the reluctance of politicians to address the issue: ‘It is certainly difficult to discuss this phenomenon of serial marriage and exploitation of the benefits system, with few people in Britain seeming to want to confront the disturbing truth.’
Two years ago, another peer, Baroness Warsi, born in Dewsbury to Pakistani parents, and now a Coalition Cabinet Minister, also voiced her concerns. She said cultural sensitivity was stopping politicians addressing the problem.
Yet this week I found those — from within the heart of the Asian communities — who were prepared to speak out.
Although the Government says there are only 1,000 such bigamous or polygamous unions in the UK, two experienced Lancashire social workers — one of Indian-English heritage and the other with Pakistani origins — told me that, although it’s difficult to be precise, in their estimation the figure is closer to 20,000.
The social workers said the multiple marriages are encouraged by a welfare system which allows a second, third or fourth wife to be treated as a single mother who gets a house and an array of other state payments for herself and her children.
Controversially, it means that a man can take a new spouse (from anywhere in the world), sire any number of children with her, and yet have no responsibility for this family’s upkeep or care.
To avoid breaking Britain’s matrimony laws, the men marry their extra ‘wives’ in an Islamic Nikah ceremony, either in their own homes or a mosque.
These marriages are not recognised officially, so they do not appear in government statistics or have  any status under the law. They  also do not count when assessing welfare payments.
Another technique is for a couple to marry legally under British law but then divorce, leaving them then to have a Nikah ceremony and continue living together. The woman will then be entitled to welfare payments as a single mother and the man can then bring another woman from abroad and legally marry her in Britain.
Men also cheat the system by bringing brides from abroad as nannies for their children, or as carers for a sick relative. The bride gets a year’s visitors’ visa, disappears into a tight-knit local community, and is entitled to receive welfare hand-outs.
While it has long been a cliche for men to complain that their wives and children take up most of their income, the reality for polygamous husbands is that the more babies he sires, the more money pours in for him and his wives.
As Tariq Ali, the 45-year-old co-founder of Project BME (Black Minority Ethnics), a charity based in Darwen, Lancashire, admits: ‘There are thousands of bigamous and polygamous marriages in the UK’s Pakistani community — the same community into which I was born.
'Every single man of my age who I bump into seems to have a third, fourth or fifth wife.
‘The issue is going unreported but in the Asian communities this is becoming a way of life. I think the number of polygamous relationships must be 20,000.
‘The men find second wives in the UK as well as any Muslim country abroad. The new favourite places to find women are Turkey and Morocco, because the men can drive there by car to meet them and bring them back.’
His colleague, Zed Ali, the manager of Project BME, added: ‘These arrangements satisfy a man’s sexual desires when he is trapped in an unhappy or sexless arranged marriage with a first wife and their families don’t countenance a divorce.
‘The first wives often accept the situation as a compromise. There is a limitless number of girls living in Muslim countries wanting to come to the UK for what they, and their parents, think is a better life even as a second, third or fourth wife.
‘What’s more, they are virgins — which the men like. But it means British laws are being abused, and something should be done by the Government. A first step would be the registration of Nikah weddings in this country at least.’ This would prevent many bigamous marriages.
Baroness Warsi said cultural sensitivity was stopping politicians addressing the problem
Baroness Warsi said cultural sensitivity was stopping politicians addressing the problem
Officially, bigamy and polygamy are punishable by up to seven years in prison. It was declared illegal in England and Wales in 1604, when the Parliament of James I took action to restrain ‘evil persons’ marrying more than one wife — on penalty of death.
But officialdom now turns a blind eye because of cultural sensitivities.
A 2007 Government report estimated there were 1,000 bigamous or polygamous marriages in England and Wales.

It claimed that men living in a harem arrangement, with their wives under the same roof, were each claiming state handouts of £10,000 a year for the spouses through income support, housing and  child benefits.
But the report ignored the thousands of men squeezing more money from the state by having a string of wives living in separate homes, all claiming benefits intended for single mothers and their children.
Those women are eligible for full housing benefit — reaching £106,000 a year in some parts of London — and child benefit paid at £1,000 a year for a first child, and nearly £700 for each subsequent one. Little wonder there has been an increase of foreign brides.
Lady Flather believes this free-for-all should be reduced — by giving full benefits to a woman’s first two children, three-quarters for the third and half for the fourth child. Then there should be no more benefits for any extra children.
It was also wrong, she said, that families were moving to ever larger taxpayer-funded homes, simply by expanding the number of children they have. Yet tackling this phenomenon will be difficult.
I was told this week that even the mosques’ preachers — the imams themselves — have second or third wives, some chosen from among their own worshippers.
One female health visitor in Lancashire, whose parents were born in Pakistan and came here in 1971, explained: ‘My sister has been asked by her own imam in Manchester to marry him as his second wife.
‘She is 38 and went to school here. She played netball, socialised normally, and had British friends. But her marriage to a British Asian broke down when she became very fundamentalist about religion and wanted to wear a burka. Then she turned to the mosque for advice.
‘The imam, who recently arrived from Africa, suggested a bigamous marriage to him would be the solution. My family are horrified, but plenty of imams in the UK have more than one wife.’
A little later in the day, I was introduced to Javeria, a 26-year-old British-born Muslim who is the second wife of a 29-year-old man in Rochdale, Lancashire.
He was also born in Britain and has a first wife, with whom he had an arranged marriage organised by his parents when he was 21. The forced union was an unhappy one, and they had no children. Javeria originally met her husband at an Islamic community gathering.
‘I was under pressure from my mother to get married,’ she says. ‘Most girls in my community are wives by 22, even here in the UK. I was prepared to compromise because I liked him.
‘I knew from the start there would always be his first wife and he would not divorce her.’
Javeria and her new husband had a small Nikah ceremony at her parents’ house conducted by the local imam.
Now she lives in a block of  flats with her two children, aged five and three, and works in a bank as a cashier.
Her husband, meanwhile, lives half a mile away with his first wife and their three children in a semi-detached house with a garden. He visits Javeria three nights a week.
‘His first wife knows about me and is pleased because the arrangement gives her freedom from him and it also gives me freedom to pursue my career. He is devoted to his children. But he does not have to pay for my family.’
She adds: ‘I get tax credits because I am on low pay and have young children. I also get housing benefit, because the council says I need three bedrooms for myself and the kids. The child benefits for our son and daughter are paid into my account.’
But, of course, not all multiple marriages work this well.
Each year, London solicitor Anne-Marie Hutchinson, of family law firm Dawson Cornwell, advises around 20 Muslim women who have married in a Nikah ceremony — many of them second or third wives now facing marital breakdown.
‘These women are left unprotected,’ she explains. ‘They cannot claim matrimonial rights. They get no maintenance payments or share in their husband’s  pension contributions. They are not wives in the eyes of the British  legal system.’
No one knows that better than one Bangladeshi-born mother of three children who works in a care home in Slough, Berkshire. Orpita contacted me through her lawyer when she heard I was writing about multiple marriages in the Muslim community.
She was deserted by her husband of 20 years when he went on holiday to Bangladesh and returned to say he was about to marry a girl of 19, called Saba, in a Nikah ceremony, and wanted to bring her to Britain as his second wife.
Despite the pleas of Orpita and her children, one a teenage boy who — in fury at the betrayal — hit his father in the face, the husband told the British immigration authorities that Saba was from his home village and was to be a nanny for his children. They needed, he lied to them, a caring person who understood his family’s cultural heritage.
They officials believed him and, after the Nikah in Bangladesh, Orpita’s husband set up home with his second wife two years ago in Maida Vale, North London. They now have a one-year-old baby.
‘I am only just recovering from the shock,’ says Orpita. ‘We are not divorced, because I will not allow it. When he walked out, he said the state could look after me and that was how it worked in Britain.
‘All over the place, in London’s East End, in Yorkshire towns, down the road, across the street, I see Muslim men taking second or third wives. I cannot count the number of times I have been approached to be a second wife myself by Bangladeshi men who know I am now on my own.
‘This bigamy and polygamy is destroying families. Children  grow up angry and bewildered. Many rarely see their own  fathers because they have so many wives to visit.’
Then, she tucks a scarf around her head and adds, sadly: ‘It is a tragedy for everyone in this country, whether they are Muslim or not.
‘And it is the crazy welfare system that encourages it all to happen.’

Six men and a woman held as police 'smash terror plot to bomb Britain'

Six men and a woman held as police 'smash terror plot to bomb Britain'

Police and security officials believe they have smashed a plot by home-grown terrorists to kill hundreds in an Al Qaeda-inspired attack on Britain.
One of 14 homes raided by officers yesterday belongs to a convicted terrorist involved in a conspiracy to capture and behead a British soldier.
Acting on intelligence from MI5, counter-terrorism police in Birmingham arrested six men and a woman, who were all born in Britain and hold UK passports.

They are suspected of being in the latter stages of planning an atrocity, though a precise target had yet to be chosen. Police say they swooped to protect public safety.
Whitehall sources say it is the biggest plot to have been disrupted by the security services this year. It comes only three months after officials downgraded the threat to the UK from severe to substantial.
Fourteen Birmingham addresses, including one business, were being searched yesterday.
They included a terraced property owned by Mohammed Irfan, 34, and Mohammed Rizwan, who preach at a mosque. Forensics officers were also seen yesterday searching a neighbouring home in the city’s deprived Ward End district.

Irfan was jailed for four years in February 2008 after admitting being part of plot to behead a Muslim soldier as warning to other Muslims about joining the British Army. He was released on licence in October 2009.
Those under arrest were said by neighbours to include a nursery nurse and two brothers. One of the addresses was an imposing five-bedroom detached home occupied by a taxi driver and his five sons. A neighbour said two of the sons had been seen firing an air rifle at a target in the garden on Sunday.
The arrests were carried out across the largely Asian inner-city neighbourhoods of Alum Rock, Sparkbrook, Ward End and Moseley, a suburb popular with students and young professionals.

Although the terror suspects were home-grown, sources said the plot had an ‘international dimension’.
West Midlands Police said six men – aged between 25 and 32 – were arrested overnight on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of an act of terrorism in the UK following a joint investigation by both police and MI5.
A 22-year-old-woman, named by neighbours as nursery nurse Salma Kabal, from Alum Rock, was said to have been arrested at 7am on suspicion of failing to disclose information contrary to the Terrorism Act 2000.
Neighbours in the terraced street yesterday said Kabal comes from a ‘moderate’ Pakistani family and is the eldest of five children.
Her mother is said to work as a school dinner lady, while her father is a former council worker.
She married two years ago but was said to have divorced her husband six months ago. One neighbour said: ‘He moved in with her and wore a long Islamic beard.
‘He didn’t seem to work, but was more extremist than his wife. I understand they split up because he wanted to take her to live in a madrassa in Karachi in Pakistan.’ The husband was believed to be Ashiq Ali, who was arrested with his brother Bahader, 28, who runs a gym.
The brothers are understood to have an English stepmother, who converted to Islam before marrying their father, a taxi driver.

Neighbours said Kabal adopted the full Islamic niqab after marrying in a Islamic service carried out at her home. She is said to have cast off the full veil in recent weeks.
One witness reported seeing three men being arrested as they climbed into an old Volkswagen Passat in Sparkbrook. The car was later taken away for examination.
Police say the arrests were made by unarmed officers, indicating there was no expectation of finding explosives or weapons during the raids.
David Rose, 50, a marketing executive who lives next to the address raided in Moseley, said: ‘They took away the father’s black cab and three or four other cars owned by the sons. The police also found a lot of religious paraphernalia – a loud hailer, Islamic leaflets and other stuff.’
The arrests were not related to the Liberal Democrat conference, which is taking place at the city’s International Convention Centre.

Why the terrorism threat to the UK remains high

The alleged Birmingham plot is considered ‘the biggest in numbers and scale’ since the end of 2010, according to officials in the security services.
Back then, nine suspects were charged with plotting a Christmas bomb blitz on London landmarks. All nine are still awaiting trial.
There have been other arrests since, but nothing to rival dawn raids in Birmingham, leading to six men and one woman being taken in custody on suspicion of plotting a mass casualty attack.
The case is a reminder that – while Al Qaeda-inspired terrorism has not been making headlines this year – the threat to the UK remains grave.
There are a number of reasons why people may have felt less at risk in recent months.
Chief among them is the killing of Osama bin Laden and the deaths of other senior Al Qaeda figures in the lawless borderlands between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
This has led officials in Washington to speak of the much reduced threat posed by the organisation.
However, long before the killing of its leader, Al Qaeda was acting as an inspiration for would-be fanatics in Britain, rather than playing an operational or planning role in attacks.
Terrorists are no longer necessarily imported from overseas, but radicalised in the UK over the internet. All those arrested yesterday hold British passports.
There was also a reduction in the published UK terror threat level in July, moving it down from severe to substantial .
Severe means the risk of a terrorist attack is considered to be a strong possibility and ‘might well occur without further warning’.
The substantial level – which officials do not intend to change after  yesterday’s arrests – means an attack is a strong possibility.
Security sources say the lower threat does not mean there has been a reduction in terrorist activity, but rather that plots are being detected and disrupted earlier.
The workload – the number of potential terrorists who are being monitored – is as great as at any time in the past five or six years, officials say.
With the Olympics on the horizon – considered the biggest peace-time security challenge this country has faced – it is likely to get worse before it gets better.

Ron Paul and The Nazis and The Fascists Who Founded the EU and Their Profound Influence on Eurabia Today

From Atlas Schrugs

Monday, September 05, 2011

“The Nazis and Fascists who founded the European Union and their influence today”
There has been a coup against the people of Britain and those nation-states of Europe which were liberated from Fascism in 1945 and from Communism in 1989. This has been a coup against the sovereignty of the voters, the very definition of democracy. Those who sought to destroy democratic sovereignty knew they could not succeed if they were open about their intentions. And they could not succeed if they attempted their coup within one democratic system. They therefore acted behind the democratic system and across national borders. They established in the European Union a bureaucratic corporatist state so monolithic that most can be intimidated into silence by the very size of the project, and emasculated by the necessary remoteness of the powers involved.
The plans for this essentially fascist process were laid and carried out by, among others, many leading Nazis and Fascists after the second world war, and realized in the European Union today. The fact that many naïve constructors of today’s Europe had good intentions does not mitigate the fact that they have summoned up the hated regimes of the fascist past and created structures built on the ashes of democratic nationhood, all of which coincides with the plans of the very Euroepan fascists they thought they were expunging.
Now that their hitherto secret aim of turning the democratic nation-states of Europe into a gigantic corporatist empire is imminent, the new dictators have grown bold. Now they can act as if the voters do not exist, for they know the voters have no power. Although the European Constitution was thrown out comprehensively by the people of France and the Netherlands, it has been reintroduced in the form of the so-called Lisbon Treaty, and EU governments have been intimidated into avoiding referenda of their peoples. Having blocked such referenda, the European Commission had the unmitigated gall to launch a new initiative under the heading “Debate Europe: Giving Citizens a Voice.” Ninety-five percent of the member states of the European Union denied their peoples the right to vote on the massive loss of democratic rights in the Lisbon Treaty. No wonder that according to Eurobarometer tests of public opinion, only 50% of the people of the European Union now support the European Union at all. Even more disgracefully, the Irish may have changed their minds on Lisbon because they were frightened by the collapse of their economy. How ironic, because that collapse was due to German financial exploitation of their banks and because Irish membership of the Euro prevented them from controlling their own exchange rate and interest rates in a recession. The Lisbon Treaty establishes a new legal country to which EU member states are subservient. It makes future constitutional change possible even without consulting them. It removes the EU’s founding principle of free and undistorted trade. It both bans and then reintroduces the death penalty for riots and upheavals, permits the restrictions of rights and freedoms to serve the interests of the European Union, and allows EU armed forces to enter any country. The Irish, destroyed by the Euro and under intolerable pressure, voted yes to all that. The European Union now knows that all they have to do to finish off the constitutions of EU member states is to finish off their economies first. And frightened voters will then kowtow.
The European Union is based on the Nazi plans of 1941, published as they were in Berlin in 1942. The EU was founded by, among others, leading Nazis and Fascists, as was the Charlemagne Prize, awarded to Tony Blair, Edward Heath, Roy Jenkins and others for their role in removing democratic sovereignty from the nation-states of Europe. As in the 1940s, we’ve witnessed today the breakup of Yugoslavia, and Czechoslovakia and the re-creation of the petty states of Slovakia, Croatia, Bosnia, and Albanian Kosovo. These states were all Nazi allies during the 1940s and each provided Germany with a full Waffen SS division.
Europe’s post-war leaders have repeated virtually word for word the beliefs of the leaders of Fascism in the 1930s an 1940s. For a comprehensive demonstration of the parallels, see my books Fascist Europe Rising and Europe’s Full Circle. The European Union has promoted and funded the ethnic cleansing of a million Europeans in the Balkans, mostly Serbs, Jews and gypsies. From Croatia, Kosovo and Bosnia, realizing the ambitions of fascist organizations in those countries. It is of course the European Union, embraced by both Labor, liberal democrat and conservative parties alike, which has resurrected Croatia, a country with the most blatant fascist traditions in Europe, whose football supporters today form swastikas on the terraces and whose leading pop star calls himself Thompson, after a machine gun used against the Serbs, and whose supporters give Nazi salutes. Croatia was of course guilty of the greatest ethnic cleansing in Europe for decades, when they drove some 300,000 Serbs out of their historic homeland in the Krajina in 1995. The links between Croatian fascists and German Nazis in the modern day is well documented. I quote here from a book Fuhrer-Ex, written by Ingo Hasselbach, a former German neo-Nazi who was intimately involved with German Nazis and Croatian fascists as Croatia fought to break up Yugoslavia throughout the 1990s. In this they have an indirect support of the German Army and the German government, who of course were President Tudjman’s principal backers and the first to recognize the illegally created state of Croatia in 1991. Hasselbach writes:
The then government in Croatia under President Franjo Tudjman was reviving the tradition of the Ustashi and in many other ways honoring the former fascists. Units of the Croatian Army were flying swastika flags and many more were flying the old Croatian fascist symbol. Croatia had become the first European government since World War II to openly embrace these symbols. All of the West German neo-Nazis saw it as a powerful opportunity, but Nero Reisz, the barking anti-Semite from Hesse, was particularly pleased. The problem for him was that there weren’t enough Jews being killed, but Serbs would do.
There are today 27 former nation-states of Europe who have no constitution, no elected government, and citizens who can be arrested and passed from country to country without prima facie evidence of any crime or recourse to the traditional protections of jury trial or habeas corpus. How has this happened and who is responsible?
You only really know a political institution by the kind of people who support it. By that measure alone, the fascist origins of the European Union are difficult to deny. I set out here the names of the prominent Nazis and Fascists of the 1930s and 1940s who then became prominent political leaders of European countries and of the European Union itself, where they helped to construct the European state which rules us today.
Walter Hallstein. Hallstein was State Secretary for Foreign Affairs under Eisenhower. He established the Hallstein Doctrine which denied diplomatic recognition to those states which recognized East Germany. He had been a member of many leading Nazi organizations, the most significant of which were the National Socialist University Lecturers Association…where he qualified as a Nazi leadership officer, enabling him to join the army as an officer in 1942. And he was also a member of the National Socialist League for Protection of the Law…Such organizations were not like being a mere member of the Nazi Party. They were central cadres of Nazi rule, to which only the most committed would have been admitted. The French president General De Gaulle summed up Hallstein in the following words: “If Dr. Hallstein is a convinced European, it is because he is first and foremost an ambitious German.”
His ambition during the Nazi period was evident from his intimate involvement in the preservation of Nazi doctrine in universities and the promotion of Nazism in German law.
Walter Hallstein became the first president of the [EU] Commission in 1958. (Visual: Adenauer and Hallstein signing the first EU Treaty in Rome in 1957)
Paul Henri Spaak. Spaak joined the Belgian national government as foreign minister in 1936 and with Henri de Man developed the Belgian National Socialist Party. One of his notable acts was to refuse assistance to the legal Spanish Republican government then locked in civil war with Franco’s Fascists. In 1938, Spaak said, “Some people wish to lead us into a policy of solidarity with the democracies against the Fascist states. I refuse to stick to such a policy. He concluded, “If Great Britain and France want to help Czechoslovakia by invading Germany through Belgium, they will be treated as invaders.” In fact, as the memoirs of Sir Alexander Cadogan, the pre-war British cabinet minister, note, that is exactly how the British forces seeking to defend Belgium against the invading Nazis were treated.
Paul Henri Spaak became one of the EU’s founding fathers and secretary general of NATO.
Walter Funk. Funk joined the Nazi Party in 1931 and promptly became not only Hitler’s personal economic adviser, he was also Reich press chief and minister under Goebbels of the Propaganda Ministry. And finally, he became the Reich’s economics minister in 1938. He was the principal liaison man between the Nazi Party and the large industrialist group from whom he obtained financial and political support on Hitler’s behalf. On the 3rd of December 1938 Funk again advanced the policy of economic extermination by signing a decree which provided that owners of Jewish enterprises could be ordered to sell or liquidate their enterprises. Jews could be ordered to sell and were prohibited from acquiring any real estate. Jews were forced to deposit all stocks, mining shares, bonds and other securities with specially designated banks, and accounts had to be marked “Jewish.”
Funk was convicted at the Nuremberg trials. And on his release in 1957 he was employed by the Lower Saxony Education Ministry, where he helped to propagate the new European economic community to German schools and universities. Although Funk died in 1960, his blueprint for the European economic community, drawn up in Berlin in 1941, is virtually indistinguishable from the structure of today’s European Union.
Hans Josef Globke. By now you’ll have gathered that most of the Nazi functionaries continued in public life, either as officials or as politicians. Dr. [Konrad] Adenauer, Germany’s post-war chancellor, appointed a man called Globke as his state secretary, that is director of the Chancellor’s Office in Bonn. Globke was the man who had drafted the Nuremberg race laws. It was on Globke’s advice that Adenauer made his senior appointments. Globke helped to formulate the emergency legislation that gave Hitler unlimited dictatorial powers in 1933. He had also written a law commentary on the new Reich Citizenship Law, the Nuremberg race laws which revoked the citizenship of German Jews.
After the war, Globke became director of the Federal Chancellery of West Germany, between 1953 and 1963, and as such was one of the closest aides to Federal Chancellor Konrad Adenauer during the plans for and foundation of the European Union. Globke’s key position as a national security adviser to Adenauer and his involvement in anti-Communist activities in post-war West Germany made both the West German government and CIA officials wary of exposing his Nazi past. This led for instance to the withholding of Adolf Eichmann’s alias from the Israeli government and Nazi hunters in the late 1950s, and CIA pressure in 1960 on Life Magazine to delete references to Globke from its recently obtained Eichmann memoirs.
Alcide De Gasperi. The then journalist De Gasperi belonged to that Catholic world of the early days of the Mussolini Regime in Italy with which the Vatican collaborated and maintained close contact. On the day Mussolini came to power, truckloads of nuns paraded through the streets of Rome giving the Fascist salute, which indicates the attitude of the Vatican in which De Gasperi worked in the 1930s. He was librarian in the Vatican as it became the first state to recognize the Nazi regime and sign its notorious 1934 Concordat with Hitler’s Germany.
Even during the Nazi occupation, De Gasperi was involved in intrigues against parts of the Resistance in order to break up left-wing Catholicism and Communist partisans. In 1943 as the war turned against the Fascist powers, De Gasperi tried to reinvent himself by founding the Italian Christian Democrat Party. After becoming Italian president in December 1945, De Gasperi pleaded for an end to the criminal prosecution of Mussolini’s Fasicst supporters. In 1952 he was awarded the Nazi-founded Charlemagne Prize, the principal prize for those constructing the European Union.
Lady Diana Mosley.
Lady diana

Like several aristocratic families and like so many politicians of all parties during the 1930s, the Lady Mosley was charmed by Fascism. Like Lloyd George, she admired Hitler. Like the liberal Lord Lothian or the socialist Arnold Toynbee she would certainly have joined a Nazi-based government of Britain. Like Labor’s Lord Allen of Hurtwood, she would have argued for a little more African colonies for the German Reich. And like conservative Sir Samuel Hoare, she would have tried to get rid of Churchill in order to prevent war. Her husband, Sir Oswald Mosley, founded a Fascist newspaper called The European. Lady Diana Mosley in an interview with the BBC shortly before her death poured scorn on British Euro-skeptics and gave total support to the European Union. Strange that the BBC should so recently interview a lifelong Fascist. But perhaps not, when we consider that the BBC kept Churchill off the air for 28 months, between 1937 and 1939.

Alfred Toepfer, the founder of the Alfred Toepfer Foundation. Toepfer’s business interests in the 1940s provided slake lime for the mass graves in the Lodz Ghetto and was involved in the industrial exploitation of occupied France. In the final days of the war, Heinrich Himmler and other leading Nazis gathered at Toepfer’s estate, Kalkhorst, a Nazi Reich leadership school. Foreign collaborators with the Nazis were trained to take over governorships of the German Reich in the conquered Euro states. The founder himself, Toepfer gave race lectures at Kalkhorst. After the war Toepfer supported financially Thies Christopherson, the author of the book The Auschwitz Lie, which denied the extermination of the Jews. The Toepfer Foundation has since the war demanded further compensation for their lost Nazi land in the east. The former Nazi possessions comprise several hundred hectares and are the subject of dispositions made by the 1945 Potsdam Agreement. The Toepfer Foundation today has claimed the protection of the European Human Rights Convention. The foundation is today a highly influential political movement. The notorious foundation belongs to an influential group of German ethno-organizations and enjoys direct contact with the German government. Former Minister of State in the German chancellery Christina Weiss, social democrat, worked under the auspices of the Toepfer Foundation.
Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands. Originally the German Prince Tualiper Bisterford. Prince Bernhard, who was the co-founder of the Bilderberg Group and one of the original promoters of the European Union had also been an SS intelligence officer before the war. He had been attached to the Nazi conglomerate I.G. Farben, which promoted Nazi interests around the world and spied for the German state. I.G. Farben was so dangerous that it was broken up by the Allies after the war. Although many of its successor parts like the ASF are particularly active in promoting the European Union today.
This information about Bernhard and the company he worked for was confirmed by evidence of Max Ilgner, the former head of I.G. Farben, at his trial in Nuremberg. Despite continuous denials after the war that he had ever been a Nazi Party member, Bernhard was revealed in 1995 thanks to details released from U.S. archives and published in the Netherlands to have been a member of the Nazi Party, from an early date, along with no fewer than 11 members of his family. A copy of his resignation letter is in the national archives in Washington, DC. The letter ended ‘Heil Hitler.’ Hardly a renunciation of Nazism.
According to many, including British academic Dr. Richard Aldrich, Prince Bernhard’s Bilderberg Group was far more important than the European movement in creating the European Union.
George McGhee, later ambassador to Germany, and who in fact had been my father’s tutor at Oxford in the 1930s confirmed that the Treaty of Rome which brought the European Community into being was nurtured at Bilderberg meetings. There was an interesting British press cover-up in 2002 when The Daily Telegraph printed an obituary of Prince Claus of the Netherlands on the 8th of October. Mention was made of his father-in-law, Prince Bernhard, having steered clear of the Nazis in the 1930s. I wrote an obituary letter pointing out Prince Bernhard’s longstanding membership in the Nazi Party, his role as an SS intelligence officer attached to I.G. Farben etc etc. The editor referred me to the letters editor but she refused to publish the letter. After detailed correspondence with Charles Moore of The Daily Telegraph, the paper still refused to publish the facts, i.e. to correct their complete falsehood about Prince Bernhard. The Times, The Daily Mail and The Evening Standard refused to cover the story.
Kurt Georg Kiesinger. Kiesinger was an early member of the Nazi Party, and as early as 1934 became a member of the Sturmabteilung [SA — storm troopers]. In April 1940 he joined the German Foreign Office and became the head of the department responsible for the Nazis’ radio propaganda, not a function left to anyone other than a convinced Nazi. He was responsible for propaganda in the occupied territories, promoting the German military and political forces in France, Belgium and Greece, where he broadcast via the Nazi Radio Patrice, encouraging chaos, murder and sabotage by the population against the Greek state.
Despite his consistent representation of the Nazi totalitarian state, after the war in 1945, and with the support of two Nazi colleagues in the German Foreign Office, he was able to take up his career again. The German Foreign Office was notorious under Adenauer as having hundreds of ‘former’ Nazis long after the war.
In 1966 Kurt Georg Kiesinger, as leader of the German Christian Democrat Party, became chancellor of Germany.
Theodor Heuss. Heuss was a former designer of concentration camps and supplier of slave labor to the B2 project, as Tom Bowie in his book “Blind Eye to Murder,” testifies.
Heuss voted for Hitler’s infamous Enabling Act in 1933, which gave the Nazis the power to override both houses of Parliament, the source of Hitler’s absolute power. Heuss became federal president of Germany in 1949. He was therefore intimately involved in the creation of the European Union.
The Federal Union of European Ethnic Groups [FUEV]. The FUEV is an anti-Semitic, Nazi-supported, German-dominated promoter of ethnic regional politics. And that very regional principle now being embraced in Britain by the Labor government.
Both the Welsh nationalists and the Cornish separatists are associated with the FUEV. One ethnic group is excluded. As an early statement of the FUEV’s principles established, Jews are excluded from ethnic rights enjoyed by other nations. Today that organization is active throughout Europe and in particular among German minorities in Germany’s neighboring countries: Czech Republic, Belgium, Denmark, Poland, etc. The FUEV pursues the goal of a Federal Europe of the Regions, which means in their own words the end of the unitary and centralized nation-state, but not of course the end of the centralized European superstate.
Since the 1950s when Hans Joseph Graf Matuschka of the European Union of Germany, as it then was, succeeded in linking the FUEV to the German Foreign Office, the organization has had the financial support of the German government. It is involved in the European Union’s Committee of the Regions and the European Council’s Congress of Communities of Regions and since 1995 it is represented in the UN itself.
It is no mitigation of the above to say that most of those individuals are long gone, for the institutions they helped to found are not only active today, but the constitutional structures they created now govern most of Europe. They do so indeed by virtue of European treaties which refer consistently in truly fascist style to their “irrevocable and irreversible” provisions.
The Charlemagne Prize. The prize was originally founded by the Nazis, but was then re-founded in 1949 by the efforts of the Aachen textile merchant Kurt Pfeiffer. Pfeiffer, who had previously been a member of the Nazi Party and of five other Nazi organizations, maintained that he had always tended to be a fundamental believer in Europe. And the Charlemagne Prize Society was to be associated with the imperial idea Reichsidee of the Emperor Charlemagne. The post-war image of Charlemagne as unifier of the Christian west was preceded by his Nazi portrayal as a unifier of the German tribes. Charlemagne had been compared with Hitler, his Reich and Greater Germany. This is clearly exemplified by the career of the Aachen professor of philosophy Peter Mennicken, who took over the professorship previously occupied by an expelled Jew, and who after the war had authorized influence over the symbolism of the Charlemagne Prize and the liturgy of its award ceremonies.
Mennicken had joined the SA, the storm troopers, in 1933 and the Nazi Party in 1937. He used his lectureship at Technical High School of Aachen in the service of expansion as ‘western research,’ and worked for two so-called “societies for international understanding,” which were informal offshoots of the Nazi Propaganda Ministry used for German propaganda in the Netherlands and Belgium.
It is therefore not surprising, considering those who were involved in the foundation of the European Union, that its top prize the Charlemagne Prize should have had such well authenticated Nazi roots.
But now let us consider some post-war European British and American figures who were influential in establishing the now powerful European Union and its rule over 27 nation-states of Europe.
George Kennan. Kennan, who died in 2005, was possibly the leading post-war U.S. foreign affairs expert and an authority on Russia. Left-wing super-nationalist with excessive sympathy for authoritarian regimes in Germany, Spain and Italy, and a critical influence on U.S. foreign policy of the 1950s. Kennan was a regular attendee at the Bilderberg Group, which nurtured the creation of the European Union. Kennan found Nazi Germany so palatable that he studied in Heidelberg in the 1930s, and stayed even until the early 1940s when he was interned at Bad Nauheim. There he even lectured, obviously with the approval of the Nazis. German magazine Der Spiegel reported on the 5th of December 1951 that lecturing there he had claimed that Germany’s defeat would extinguish the 2000-year-old history of European civilization. He attacked the Allies for not enforcing a greater circumspection on the Nazi regime and caused it to proceed more slowly with the actualization of its timetable. After the war, Kennan was particularly influential in stopping the de-Nazification program initiated in 1945. A recent biographer chronicles Kennan’s baffling appreciation of Europe’s dictatorships — Mussolini’s in Italy, Dollfuss’s in Austria, and Salazer’s in Portugal. Kennan believed that their kind of authoritarian government was a healthy and welcome alternative to inefficient parliamentary democracy.
Kennan [suggested] in the 1950s that the U.S. change its longstanding hostility to Franco’s fascist regime in Spain in order to secure U.S. influence in the Mediterranean. Kennan thought the First World War had not been worth fighting. He said in an interview with the New York Review of Books in 1999: I would like to see our government gradually withdraw from its public advocacy of democracy and human rights.
Giuliano Amato was a former prime minister of Italy and became vice chairman of the European Union’s Constitutional Convention, which drew up the the European constitution, which of course was thoroughly rejected by the French and the Dutch referenda, but has been reintroduced in the so-called Lisbon Treaty.
In the Italian newspaper La Stampa of 13th of July 2000, Amato wrote, “Sovereignty lost on a national level does not pass to any new individual. It is entrusted to a faceless entity, and those in command can neither be identified nor elected. As a matter of fact, the metamorphosis is already here. All we need are a few corrections here and there along with a great deal of cunning. Their place will be taken by a multitude of authorities, each of which will be at the head of different interests.” This of course is a classic element of fascism. And he continues: “Different interests that possess ambiguous levels of power, by moving the power we are used to, will disappear.” In other words, the democratic power we are used to will disappear. Indeed, as we all know, it has disappeared.
Amato continued in his La Stampa article: “In Europe one needs to act as if. As if what was wanted was little, in order to obtain much. As if states were to remain sovereign, you can convince them to concede sovereignty. The commission in Brussels, for example, should act AS IF it were a technical instrument in order to be able to be treated as a government, and so on by disguise and subterfuge.” What a very good summary that is of the fascist process behind the substance of the European Union.
Now let’s look at Kenneth Clarke, the former Conservative Home Secretary and Chancellor of the Exchequer. It was Kenneth Clarke who as a young student in the Cambridge University Conservative Association invited Oswald Mosley, the leader of the British Union of Fascists to speak. And the young Michael Howard, who became leader of the Conservative Party, resigned from the association in protest. Many political and corporate beliefs unite a Euro-fanatic anti-democrat like Kenneth Clarke and the former leader of the British Union of fascists Oswald Mosley, so perhaps the invitation was not surprising. Mosley had said, “At a moment of supreme crisis the will to [unite] a nation can arise everywhere from the soil of Europe like a primeval fire. First must come the idea.” There is little difference between that which Oswald Mosley as an individual and the 1962 fascist National Party of Europe set out. An idea which Kenneth Clarke, a so-called conservative of today, believes and which European treaties since 1957 have achieved. That explains why Clarke voted recently to prevent the British people having a vote on the Lisbon constitutional treaty. Although I note that he was chairman of the Conservative Party’s Democracy Task Force. To say that the European Union’s combination of modern corporatism and historic fascism may sound extraordinary, but I have laid out substantial evidence for this in my two booksEurope’s Full Circle and Fascist Europe Rising, and I will provide more evidence in my forthcoming book Into the Fire. So finally you might like to guess which of these quotations of European leaders stem from the fascist 1930s and 40s and which from the heyday of the European Union’s construction in the 1980s and 90s:
“Might is right in politics and war.”
“Genocide is a natural phenomenon; it is recommended, even commanded by the Almighty.”
“Many Jews survive today thanks to the circumstance that they were forced laborers. Germans are tired of philo-Semitic overcompensation in the media and sterile grief rituals by politicians.”
“The Jews should consider whether they would have behaved heroically if they had not been victims of persecution.”
“Germany should now, as it has become peaceful and reasonable, get all that Europe and the whole world has refused in two gigantic wars, a sort of smooth hegemony over Europe.”
Well in fact ALL the above quotes are from European leaders of the 1980s and 1990s. They were, in the following order: Helmut Kohl, Chancellor of Germany; Franjo Tudjman, president of Croatia; Lutz Niethammer, adviser to German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder; Klaus Von Dohnanya, former mayor of Hamburg; and finally Joschka Fischer, former German Foreign Secretary. No wonder, as Newsweek noted on the 6th of June 1997, that German troops who marched into [Croatia] after the breakup of Yugoslavia, were greeted with cries of “Sieg Heil!” And no wonder the Kosovo Albanians said as NATO troops marched in that they were pleased to see the fascist armies. And they meant it in complimentary fashion.
We live in very dangerous times. But let us be in no doubt what has happened to the United Kingdom as it surrendered to the rule of those who have for centuries sought our destruction. Nothing has happened which our Parliament and our governments did not freely do to themselves, albeit behind the backs of the true sovereigns, the voters. And if our MPs and government wish to survive, there is no power on earth which can stop them restoring the sovereignty of a free British people. But so long as they refuse to do so, they are and will be seen to be guilty of the enslavement of Britain by those very imperialist and fascist European powers which 50 million deaths and two world wars apparently failed to defeat.

Epilogue:
An additional excerpt from the German former neo-Nazi Ingo Hasselbach’s book Fuehrer-Ex, with an introduction by Atkinson:
We quote here from a book “Fuehrer-Ex” written by Ingo Hasselbach, a former German Neo Nazi who was intimately involved in the co-operation between French and German Nazis in their aid of Saddam Hussein in the Gulf War and between German Nazis and Croatian Fascists as Croatia fought to break up Yugoslavia throughout the 1990s. In the latter endeavour they had the indirect support of the German Army and the German Government (who of course were President Tudjman’s principal backers).
This kind of co-operation proves even more conclusively what this website has already exposed — that “German Europe” has broken up both Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia into precisely the same petty nationalist and religiously extreme statelets which 1940s Nazism and Fascism created in those countries. That process has had the same results — murder, ethnic cleansing and the persecution of Serbs, gypsies and Jews. And the putting on trial, not of the supporters of Fascism and Nazism but their opponents, as we witnessed in the trial of Milosevic in The Hague “Court”.
As regards modern Nazi involvement in the Gulf War there are long standing German links with Ottoman Islam (Turkey was a German ally in the First World War and Germany set up an officers’ training school in Baghdad. Hitler received the Grand Mufti in Berlin as an anti-Semitic ally). Baathism which underlay Saddam’s dictatorship in Iraq and Assad’s in Syria was created by a French educated Iraqi who admired both Hitler and Stalin!
Needless to say these are the kind of people who naturally gravitated to supporting Croatia, Bosnia and Albanian Kosovo, just as their predecessors did in Germany, Austria and the Vatican in the 1940s — and against whom the Serbs and their much maligned leader Milosevic struggled from 1990 to the present day. That the values of Nazi and Fascist Europe of the 1940s are well represented in the EU of today is made even clearer in the Balkans. Indeed throughout Europe we see resistance to the Euro-State hegemony from precisely the same countries who resisted Nazism in the past - Yugoslavs, Czechs, Norwegians, Danes, British, Poles and Swiss. On the other hand we see the most avid supporters of the modern “European Project” as the most convinced Nazis of the past - Germany, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Bosnia, Slovakia - or Fascism - Spain and Italy. Let us see how a modern day Nazi (now reformed!) saw these recent developments:
…As international preparations for the war progressed that fall, many neo-Nazis saw it as their great chance to get involved in a fight against Israel. Michael Kuhnen and Michel Faci, the French Fascist, founded an “Anti-Zionist Legion” of German neo-Nazis to fight in the Gulf on the Iraqi side. Faci was well known for getting himself involved in all kinds of conflicts. In the early 1980s he had “seen action” in South America when he was hired as a mercenary. For Faci, war was like a kind of pornography — an endless snuff film in which he got to play soldier with real weapons and real bodies.
Faci went to Baghdad at Saddam Hussein’s invitation to set things up. They signed a contract to provide German volunteers for Saddam Hussein to support Iraq against “the present aggression of Zionist and U.S. imperialist forces,” specifying that every neo-Nazi officer was to be guaranteed 5,000 deutsche marks, every legionnaire 3,000. But while the Gulf War was a bit of a disappointment — its speed and scale made it inappropriate for much mercenary involvement — on its heels came a war that provided far better opportunities for neo-Nazi intervention.
GERMAN NAZIS JOIN CROAT FASCIST ATTACK ON SERBS
IN THE SPRING of 1991, the civil war in Croatia began. The Movement saw it as the perfect chance to give those who wanted it real experience killing people. Moreover, there was a historical tie: during World War II Nazi Germany had played an active role in Yugoslav ethnic politics; the Nazis had supported a puppet dictatorship in Croatia, the Ustashe, that had built concentration camps in which mostly Serbs but also Jews [and gypsies] were killed.
…
A system was set up whereby potential recruits for Croatia were first trained in paramilitary camps in Germany, then passed on to middlemen who were responsible for arranging their transport, clothing, and food on the way to the front.
The way it worked was first through a word-of-mouth network. We had to be careful about doing any advertising because hiring mercenaries was strictly illegal in the Federal Republic. It was simply known in the scene that you could go to Croatia, if fighting was your trip, and that in Berlin I was one of the contacts. The other main contact people in Berlin were Arnulf Priem and Oliver Schweigert. Once we’d checked out recruits to make sure they weren’t spies, we took them to a paramilitary camp to get tested and trained. We were mainly interested in whether they were physically fit to go down there. Mental fitness didn’t interest us much.
I knew one guy from the GDR [German Democratic Republic — East Germany] who’d been loosely involved in the Movement for about a year and then went down to Croatia…In a documentary some television team made at the front, he was interviewed and he talked about how many Serbs he’d killed and how much he’d learned about weapons. Less than a year later, he was killed himself.
But the more sane and careful ones came back after a few months or a year with valuable training in weapons and explosives. They’d of course also learned what it was like to kill people. Many stayed down there, living in the hills, constantly involved in skirmishes no one ever heard about, and are only now coming back into Germany and Austria and forming the basis of the most militant and dangerous neo-Nazi cells.
The effort to organize young German neo-Nazis and send them to Croatia to fight and kill for the Ustashe — as the SS had once done — was organized largely by the Movement representatives in Hesse, Bavaria, and, for logistical reasons, as it was directly on the border with Yugoslavia — Austria. The main man in charge in Germany was Nero Reisz. He organized transport and took care that everyone got uniforms and weapons. Then Michel Faci and his right-hand man, Nikolas, organized most of the Croatian neo-Nazi units, training both young Croatians and Germans who’d come down for the ride.
Faci trained Croatians as young as ten years old (NOTE that both Muslim and Croat armies did this — which explains why “men and boys” died around Srebrenica in the normal course of battle, not necessarily as the result of a “massacre” out of which the fascist powers made and continue to make so much anti-Serb propaganda - Atkinson) to kill “Communists” while teaching them the basics of Nazism. With his childish antics, he is good at making murder seem like a game.
The neo-Nazis mostly fought independently from other units, as a legionnaire corps. But they received arms and ammunition, even tanks, from the Croatians (who were in turn funded by the German State - Atkinson)…(in one form or another the Bosnian Muslim, Croatian fascist and Kosovo Albanians recreated the systems, and often the names, of the Nazi Waffen SS divisions which fought the Serbs… - Atkinson) They kept track of how many Serbs they killed and tried to collect per body pay from the Croatians, but they actually got hardly anything, apart from invaluable experience.
I NEVER WENT down there. Personally, I wouldn’t have gone to Croatia for anything in the world. I saw no reason to risk my neck for another nation. I was only interested in the potential of getting battle-hardened recruits back from the front. The actual fight in Yugoslavia didn’t interest me.
So I organized paramilitary camps and helped provide training and tested the recruits with the help of a few sympathetic people from the Bundeswehr. There was a lot of physical training-jogging, crawling, scaling. Recruits learned how to use firearms and how to dismantle, clean, and reassemble them. There was explosives training and practice in throwing grenades and using bazookas. We modelled our course on Bundeswehr training exercises and what we could piece together about the old Waffen SS training with the help of training manuals and the memories of our retired SS supporters.
But the basic source for our training was the West German Federal Army…

At this ordering site one can see short summaries of Atkinson’s other books — including Government Against the People and Treason at Maastricht — along with comments by prominent international personalities. “Rodney Atkinson is a former adviser to Ministers and an internationally praised author of 6 books on political economy and the crisis caused by the European Superstate, including “Europe’s Full Circle” and “Fascist Europe Rising” …He founded the international cross party website Freenations and The British Declaration of Independence. He has broadcast on radio and television in the UK, Germany, Poland, Yugoslavia, Australia and the USA and his books have sold in more than 50 countries.”
Closing with a partial quote by Czech Republic’s globalist first president, Vaclav Havel:
The war on Yugoslavia is “an important precedent for the future…[S]tate sovereignty must inevitably dissolve” and nation-states will be transformed into “civil administrative units.”
– Vaclav Havel, in a speech to Canadian Parliament (quoted via “The Truth Leaks Out About Kosovo,” by Phyllis Schlafly, Nov. 24, 1999)
