The punishment is almost medieval in its cruelty. Victims are forced to crouch down and hold their ears with their arms threaded under their legs. Beatings are often administered at the same time.
This brutal practice has its own name: the Hen, so called because those forced into the excruciatingly painful squatting position are said to resemble a chicken.
It is the kind of shockingly degrading treatment you might expect to feature in an expose of torture techniques, like say, the use of waterboarding (simulated drowning) on terrorism suspects. You’d be wrong, though.

In fact, the Hen is used to discipline children, many under the age of ten, at British madrassas, the after-school Islamic religious classes invariably attached to mosques.
We have been told of one little girl who was forced to stay crouched and contorted in front of her class for an hour.
‘It’s a particularly unpleasant and painful punishment,’ said Dr Ghayasuddin Siddiqui, a founder of the Muslim Institute think-tank, and one of the few Muslim voices in the country to speak out about the abuse of youngsters at madrassas.
The harrowing stories now emerging from such establishments are all too familiar to detectives in Lancashire, where there are 15 madrassas in Accrington alone. They have received at least 37 separate allegations against local Islamic teachers or hafizes, ‘holy men’ who have memorised the Koran by heart.

Among them is a girl who says she was hit and kicked in the leg and face, causing bruising. The victim’s age? Just six.

Then there’s the eight-year-old boy who was punched in the back several times for making a mistake in his studies, or the boy, also eight, who had his head pulled back by the hair for not praying loud enough, or the nine-year-old forced into the ‘Hen position’ before being punched on the back and slapped in the face for not learning his Koranic lines and talking in class.
These are just some of the incidents which have recently been investigated. Yet, so far, not one of the perpetrators has been brought to justice or even reprimanded. Nor are they likely to be. Why? Well, at least some parents, it appears, were pressurised into withdrawing complaints by their own community where the clerical hierarchy are afforded great deference.

It’s a shameful indictment of the modern British justice system and one has to wonder if political correctness means the authorities are reluctant to vigorously investigate such crimes for fear of being labelled racist.
The true scale of the scandal is unknown. Many families, it is suspected, are reluctant even to report the ill-treatment of their sons or daughters for fear of upsetting their fellow Muslims. Such fears are more than justified. In some cases, parents have been intimidated and threatened for going to the police.

So the brutal treatment meted out to Muslim children continues; in silence.
The plight of many students inside Britain’s madrassas — and the implications for wider society — was highlighted by the respected File On 4 programme on Radio 4 this week, and follows a Dispatches investigation on Channel 4 in February, which not only captured beatings on hidden cameras, but also pupils being taught hatred for the British way of life, which they were told is influenced by Satan.
Anyone with ‘less than a fistful of beard’ must be avoided ‘the same way you stay away from a serpent or a snake’, some children were instructed. Non-Muslims were referred to as the ‘infidel’.

In other words, religious apartheid and social segregation is being taught to a growing number of Muslim youngsters in our towns and cities; an agenda, it seems, increasingly being reinforced by beatings and brutality.
So how much influence do madrassas hold over impressionable young Muslims? The statistics are compelling.
There are now believed to be around 3,500 madrassas in Britain although such is the demand for them that new ones are springing up all the time, not only in mosques but also in living rooms, garages, and even in abandoned pubs. Some have only a handful of pupils; others several hundred. Overall, up to 250,000 children, aged between four and 14, attend madrassas, all dutifully attired in Islamic dress; girls in headscarves, boys in skull caps.
In a typical daily scene, students hunch over wooden benches, rocking backwards and forwards as they learn the Koran by rote in Arabic, as a man with a long, dark beard dressed in traditional shalwar kameez — tunic and trousers — sits at the head of the class or paces up and down.

These institutions have been compared to Sunday school for Christians.
The comparison is misplaced. By definition, Sunday school takes place only once a week. The majority of madrassas hold classes every evening, six days a week. Lessons last for about two hours. They represent, in effect, a parallel, but largely unregulated education system. Madrassas, unlike state or private schools, are not subject to Ofsted inspections.

It is a loophole that has done little to dispel the impression that some madrassas, at least, are a law unto themselves as the latest raft of allegations above would seem to suggest.
One of the biggest in Lancashire is based at the Raza Jamia Masjid mosque, just off the main road that cuts through Accrington, and consists of several terraced houses converted into one large building. 
There are separate entrances for the dozens of male and female pupils. The madrassa has a written policy urging staff to put the welfare of children above all else and there is a strict ‘no hitting’ rule.

Earlier this year, however, that rule was flagrantly broken.
‘The mosque teacher came and hit us all with a stick,’ an 11-year-old pupil told File On 4. ‘He hit me on the back. I felt angry because he hit me. He is not allowed to touch anyone in the mosque.’
The ‘stick’, it transpired, wielded by Ibrahim Yusuf, 52, himself a father of eight, who had taught at the madrassa for nearly 12 years, was a 2ft long section of a plastic overflow pipe.
‘How would you feel to be in that situation — to be hit and abused?,’ said the victim’s older sister. ‘As a child you don’t know what to do. We are living in the 21st century. Things like this are not supposed to be happening.’
In all, four boys, including a youngster with learning difficulties, were hit with the pipe during the incident for misbehaving. Details of the beatings emerged at their primary school the following day when the boys spoke about what had happened in front of teachers.
The teachers contacted children’s services, who in turn called the police. ‘It was serious,’ said Det Sgt Julie Cross, because a stick [sic] was used. It is not acceptable for teachers within a madrassa to be relying on implements to control the classroom.’
Yusuf claimed he didn’t usually have a ‘stick’ but had it that day for teaching purposes, as a ‘pointer.’ Nevertheless, he was charged with four counts of assault.
Shortly afterwards, the mother of the boy who spoke to File On 4 says she was approached by another mother at her home, who told her to drop the allegations. The parents of two of the other boys later informed the police they no longer wanted to press charges and would not be part of the case.

The case, however, did come before magistrates in August because CCTV footage inside the madrassa confirmed the boys’ accounts. Yusuf pleaded guilty and was given a 12-month community order. He is now teaching again at the madrassa.
Answering the door of his semi-detached home in Blackburn this week, Yusuf said: ‘The matter has been dealt with and I have nothing else to say. I am teaching there and everyone is more than happy for me to be there.’
Not everyone.
‘It is wrong that he has come back,’ says  his 11-year-old victim. ‘They should have kicked him out of the mosque. I don’t go to the mosque any more.’
What seems to be beyond dispute is that abuse at Britain’s madrassas has gone largely unreported for many years. ‘I have been told about this abuse by ex-teachers who have witnessed it as well as families who have suffered it,’ said Dr Siddiqui. 
‘The most common acts of violence involve holding a child’s hair and banging his or her head against a wall. Punching them in their heads and bodies is common as well as making them adopt the Hen position.’
In 2006, Dr Siddiqui, then leader of the Muslim Parliament of Great Britain — a forum set up back in the Nineties to lobby and campaign on issues affecting Muslims — accused local imams of not taking their duty to protect children seriously.

His concerns were spelled out in a damning 35-page publication, Child Protection In Faith-Based Environments.
‘The Muslim community,’ he wrote, ‘is at present in a state of denial — denial of the fact that child abuse takes place in places of worship including mosques and madrassas and families. It is a taboo subject.
‘There is very little discussion taking place in the community on the subject at any level. Hence, when such a crime is committed, the victim knows no one to turn to and the abusers are answerable to no one.’
If many in the Muslim community, even parents, are prepared to turn a blind a eye, what chance of preventing children at madrassas being fed a hardline, intolerant version of Islam which may have profoundly dangerous consequences to Britain as a whole?
A recent Government report concluded that over the past decade, Al Qaeda followers have used Britain’s madrassas to radicalise young Muslims.
Indeed, a Home Office-funded project, set up in 2007, to try to spot future terrorists, has identified more than 300 children who are ‘vulnerable’ to Islamic radicalisation. The figure comprises an astonishing 55 under-12s, and another 290 aged up to 16.
It doesn’t have to be like this.
Academic and theologian Dr Taj Hargey runs an Islamic school in Oxford where children are taught in mixed-sex classes. Pupils are told to respect other faiths, ask questions about their religion and recite the Koran in English as well as Arabic. He says he set up the madrassa because of the claims Muslim families had made to him about beatings at other establishments.
‘What an outdated, archaic concept,’ he says, ‘and if we inflict violence on our children, we will sow the seeds of violence in them.’

 ROME—U.S. and British forces freed an Italian cargo ship on Tuesday that was attacked by pirates off Somalia and arrested the assailants, officials said.

After the pirates attacked the ship on Monday, the crew took refuge in a secure and armored area where they issued a call for help and continued to navigate the vessel, said the Italian Defense Ministry.

The British and U.S. navies each sent a ship to the area, and the "11 suspected pirates on board the pirated vessel surrendered without force" and were taken into custody, Britain's Ministry of Defense said.

All 23 crew members of the Montecristo cargo ship are now safe and free—seven Italians, six Ukrainians and 10 Indians—the Italian Foreign Ministry said.

The rescue operation was coordinated by Italian Adm. Gualtiero Mattesi as part of NATO's Ocean Shield anti-piracy force, according to the Italian Foreign Ministry. "The danger of piracy has increased" in that region, said Italian Defense Minister Ignazio La Russia.

The Montecristo's owner, D'Alessio Group, said Monday that the attack had occurred 620 miles (1,000 kilometers) off Somalia as the crew was hauling scrap iron to Vietnam on a journey that had begun Sept. 20 in Liverpool, England.

International militaries are increasingly tasking assault teams with boarding

In April this year, a Danish assault team freed 18 hostages after boarding a vessel off Somalia's coast. Three pirates were wounded. Only 10 days later South Korean commandos stormed a container ships and freed the 21 crew on board. In May Indonesian forces killed four Somali pirates after the hostage-takers were paid a ransom and freed hostages.

But for every successful attack against hostage-taking pirates, far more pirates make it back to Somalia with their hostages in hand. A Danish yachting family of five was taken by pirates in February from their 43-foot (13-meter) yacht. The family was released last month.

And one attempted rescue of four hijacked Americans abroad their private yacht went horribly wrong in February when the pirates killed the four as U.S. naval ships shadowed the yacht.

Pirate currently hold at least 10 ships and 251 hostages, according to Cmdr. Harrie Harrison of the anti-piracy military coalition European Union Naval Force.

Israeli police said Sunday that 25-year-old Asher Palmer and his infant son Yonatan were killed in a terrorist attack after Palestinians threw rocks at their car, causing it to overturn on a highway.
It happened Friday near the Israeli settlement Kiryat Arba. Authorities originally said the wreck was due to driver error, not stone throwing, prompting accusations of a police cover up so as not to “fan the flames” of a potential Palestinian protest.
Police re-labeled it a terror attack after further investigation and an autopsy on Asher Palmer’s body revealed injuries consistent with a rock hurling, including fractures to his skull.

Among the evidence that at first failed, for unknown reasons, to convince police that terrorists may have been involved: a hole in the front windshield of the car, a massive rock found in the front seat with human blood on it, a tear in fabric of the steeling wheel cover and dust indicating a blow from the rock, and damage to Asher Palmer’s face suggesting an impact unrelated to the crash.

“It was clearly a terrorist attack, Asher’s gun had been stolen, there were rocks inside the vehicle and it was clear Asher was hit by a rock,” Aharon Peretz, Palmer’s brother-in-law, told Y Net News. “It’s very grave that [a possible cover up] comes at the expense of a grieving family.”

AMSTERDAM (Sept 22, 2011): Dutch politician Geert Wilders said yesterday he wanted the Netherlands to hold a referendum on whether to ban minarets, following a similar move by Switzerland.
Wilders told parliament he would propose a law paving the way for a referendum on minarets, but did not give details. Switzerland banned the construction of new minarets in 2009, a move that drew international condemnation at the time.
The Netherlands' reputation as relatively easy on immigration has changed over the past decade, reflecting voter concerns over the large number of Muslim immigrants, mainly from Morocco and Turkey.
The Dutch government last week said it will ban face-covering veils worn by some Muslim women because these flout the Dutch way of life and culture, and make it difficult to recognise people in public.
The new measures reflect the influence wielded by Wilders, whose anti-Islam, anti-immigration Freedom Party is the third-largest in parliament and the minority coalition government's chief ally.
Wilders has a pact with the minority coalition government to provide crucial support in parliament in exchange for tougher policies on Islam and immigration from non-Western countries.
Few Muslim women in the Netherlands wear the Arabic-style niqabs which leave the eyes uncovered and Afghan-style burqas that cover the face with a cloth grid. Academics estimate the numbers at between 100 and 400, whereas Muslim headscarves which leave the face exposed are far more common. – Bernama

Ottawa, September 19, 2011- Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney , and Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird, host an event where the Ottawa Protocol on Combating Antisemitism is signed.

Fittingly, Canada is the first country to sign the Ottawa Protocol on combating antisemitism.
The document was drafted in Ottawa at the November 2010 Conference on Combating Antisemitism and was signed last week by Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney and Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird.
It represents the outgrowth of a series of conferences by the Inter-Parliamentary Coalition to Combat Anti-Semitism (IC-CA), which co-hosted the Ottawa conference along with the government of Canada last year.
The protocol contains a series of measures that seek to end hateful propaganda online and in places such as university campuses and distinguishes valid criticism of Israel from antisemitism.
“Criticism of Israel similar to that levelled against any other country cannot be regarded as antisemitic,” the protocol states. “But singling Israel out for selective condemnation and opprobrium - let alone denying its right to exist or seeking its destruction - is discriminatory and hateful, and not saying so is dishonest.”
Jewish community leaders and groups hailed the government's signing of the document last week.
The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) commended the signing. In a statement, CIJA CEO Shimon Fogel called the document “groundbreaking” in its findings and recommendations.
The Ottawa Protocol “will serve as the basis of the renewed international effort against antisemitism. The fact that this important document was crafted in Ottawa is further testimony to Canada's leadership role in this vital global battle,” he said.
Fogel added: “We are hopeful that the recommendations of the Ottawa Protocol will not only be adopted by other countries, but will serve as a model for countering all forms of hatred and discrimination.”
At the signing, Kenney said Canada is fighting anti-Semitism in a number of ways.
“The Ottawa Protocol complements what Canada is already doing to combat hatred and discrimination, including antisemitism,” he said. “We are a member of the Task Force for International Co-operation on Holocaust Education, Remembrance and Research. Here at home, we have launched programs to promote integration and social cohesion of Canadians from all backgrounds."
The Canadian Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Centre  (FSWC) also praised the government for becoming the docu-ment's first official signatory.
In a statement, Avi Benlolo, president and CEO said his organization applauded the government's “principled leadership” on the issue.
“With the exceptional and pernicious rise of antisemitism throughout the world, the Ottawa Protocol sets an exam-ple for other nations to follow,” Benlolo said. “This announcement is particularly meaningful as Jews around the world watch in sadness as the racist Durban III conference in New York provides yet one more international forum for attacking the Jewish people, while here in Canada we read about another antisemitic inci-dent in which a swastika was carved on an Edmonton hill.”

In several Danish neighborhoods with a large concentration of Muslims ‘enforcers’ from Hizb-ut-Tahrir, the Muslim political organisation that openly seeks a worldwide Islamic Caliphate, guard the polling stations.
The Guards’ ‘task’ is to deter and prevent Muslims who wish to participate in democracy by placing their vote at the ballot box
“We see the guards in fundamentalist-oriented neighborhoods watching polling stations in their residential areas and ensure that people do not go down and vote. These are indirect threats. If there is someone who wants to vote but are seen at the school where they will voice their families may be ostracized”, said Mohammad Rafiq, integration consultant and author.
According to Rafiq, guards from Hitzb ut-Tahrir youth group, but there are also internal religious groups in areas including Blågårds Square, Mjølnerparken, Frederiksberg, Ishøj and Brondby, that also have guards.
And the price for a democratic voice can be high for a Muslim.
- The consequence may be that your family will not be allowed to be buried in Muslim mosques. Another may be that they will have difficulty getting their daughters married. The cases can be very complicated, said integration expert.
30,000 ‘not voting’
And Muslims are away from the voting premises. It shows the experience of previous elections.
- We can see how extensive the problem is by looking at the number of Muslims who do not vote according to the proportion who can vote. I would estimate that we’re talking about 30,000 who have no interest in voting. Who do not want to be part of the election, says Mohammad Rafiq.
The fundamentalist Muslims do not believe that democracy can be reconciled with their religion. And right now working hard to keep people away from voting premises.
Ekstra Bladet has spoken with two Salifists, who is currently touting a pamphlet on Nørrebro. The message is clear.
- “We say they should not vote. That democracy is a manmade religion”, says Adnan Avdic. Neither is in any guard, but they share the anti-democratic attitude.
Among the thousands of Muslims who do not get a choice, you will find, according to Mohammad Rafiq, especially women who are also prevented from voting by their husbands.
- They do not want that women should interfere in the democratic process and thus gain knowledge, among other things, the rights they have and the difference they can make in the Danish society.
We do accept that there are Muslims who wish to participate in democratic process. They are seen as un-Islamic by their ‘more observant’ brothers and sisters and often persecuted, threatened, or cast out from their communities, as seen here.
But the unvarnished truth is that Islam despises participatory democracy. Hizb-ut Tahrir, an organisation banned in many countries in the world (even Muslim ones), but is highly active in the Western European ‘Dhimmisphere’, including here in the UK, has but one objective – Khilafa – the creation of a worldwide Islamic Caliphate.
So, If Islam believes itself to be fundamentally incompatible with pluralistic democracy and we Islam-critical think the same, it would appear that the only ones left who don’t (assuming also a sizeable chunk of ‘don’t-know-don’t-cares’), are the political élites; who are foisting Islam upon us every day, unwanted, unasked and unmandated.

A Libyan father killed his three daughters after they were raped by Gaddafi's troops to lift the shame on his family, a human rights group said today.
The girls, aged 15, 17 and 18 were allegedly assaulted by soldiers at a school in the town of Tomina, near the war-shattered city of Misrata, during a two-month siege.
When they returned home, their father slit their throats in a so-called honour killing, according to Physicians for Human Rights (PHR).

Shattered: Human rights investigators interviewed survivors of the siege of Misrata and revealed widespread war crimes by Gaddafi's men

The horrific story was one of a number to emerge from Misrata after the group sent in a team of interviewers in June to catalogue human rights abuses just after Libyan forces expelled Gaddafi loyalists.
Researchers from PHR were also told that Gaddafi's men:

• forced numerous civilians to act as human shields
• perched children on top of tanks to deter Nato attacks
• used rape as a weapon of war with deadly consequences

The human rights group, which is based in Boston, concluded that there was widespread evidence of war crimes during the siege.

Hundreds of civilians died in the siege: Here seven members of the Al Nour family - including Abdul Mufta, eight, and Nadia, five - are buried after their house was bombed by Gaddafi's troops

'Four eyewitnesses reported that (Gadhafi) troops forcibly detained 107 civilians and used them as human shields to guard military munitions from Nato attacks south of Misrata,' said the report, which was released today.

'One father told PHR how (Gadhafi) soldiers forced his two young children to sit on a military tank and threatened the family: "You'll stay here, and if Nato attacks us, you'll die, too."'
Richard Sollom, who was the lead author on the report, concluded that no one had evidence that rape was widespread - but the fear of sexual assault was endemic.
'One witness reported that (Gaddafi) forces transformed an elementary school into a detention site where they reportedly raped women and girls as young as 14 years old,' the report noted.

It added that it had found no evidence to confirm or deny reports that Gaddafi troops and loyalists were issued Viagra-type drugs to sustain their systematic rapes.
Researchers also heard reports of suspected honour killings - including the murder of the three sisters by their father.
But PHR also noted that 'some in Tomina have stood up against this practice, including a well-known sheik who has publicly advocated for raped women and girls to be seen as brave and bringing honor to their families'.
The group obtained copies of military orders as evidence that Gaddafi ordered his troops to starve civilians in Misrata, while pillaging food caches and barring locals from receiving humanitarian aid.
Physicians for Human Rights only investigated the abuses committed by Gaddafi forces. The timing of their visit, and its focus on Misrata, meant that PHR was not in a position to comment on allegations of rights violations by the Libyan rebels or by Nato, the group said.
It said NATO should investigate any credible claims made against the allied force that supported the rebels, largely through thousands of bombing sorties.
PHR particularly raised the issue of medical neutrality in war time, accusing the Gaddafi forces of attacking hospitals, clinics and ambulances, and preventing doctors from reaching or treating injured civilians.
Last week, the New York-based Human Rights Watch said it had collected evidence that 'strongly suggests that Gaddafi government forces went on a spate of arbitrary killing as Tripoli was falling.'
Meanwhile, Amnesty International, which is based in London, also accused pro-Gaddafi guards of raping child detainees, but added that Libyan rebels are abusing children and holding migrant workers as prisoners.
All three major human rights groups have called on both sides to respect prisoners - and beyond that, to build a post-Gaddafi Libya.
'Individual perpetrators need to be brought to justice and held to account for their crimes,' Sollom said.
'And as we've seen historically in places like South Africa and Bosnia and Rwanda, it's a cathartic experience for the country, and a necessary one, to move forward.'

A new opinion survey shows that more than half of all Europeans believe there are too many immigrants Muslim invaders in their countries and that immigration is having a negative impact on their lives.
The findings – which come as Europeans are waking up to the consequences of decades of mass immigration from Muslim countries – point to a growing disconnect between European voters and their political masters regarding multicultural policies that encourage Muslim immigrants to remain segregated rather than become integrated into their host nations.
The survey results mirror the findings of dozens of other recent polls. Taken together, they provide ample empirical evidence that scepticism about Muslim immigration is not limited to a “right-wing” political fringe, as proponents of multiculturalism often assert. Two Muslim teenagers have admitted defacing advertising hoardings featuring scantily-clad models and painting a ‘burka’ over them because they offended their religious views.

Mohammed Hasnath and Muhammed Tahir, both 18, used black paint to cover up the picture of a female model on a hoarding advertising Lynx deodorant.

The duo proceeded to paint over the faces on several other advertisements around London’s East End, claiming it was a ‘sin’ for them to be uncovered.

The youths, who represented themselves, had both denied initial charges of religious aggravated criminal damage.

However, they both pleaded guilty to six counts of criminal damage when they appeared at Thames Magistrates Court in east London.

Taiwo Akinrowo, prosecuting, told the court: ‘On the morning of February 26th this year a member of the public called the police because they had seen three males damaging the bus shelters.

‘One of the males was seen to paint on the female angel in the advert for Lynx. On the other side was an advert for the film ‘Drive Angry’ and this male was seen to paint on the female image next to Nicholas Cage.

‘Police were called and began to monitor the males and they saw them walking along Whitechapel Road towards Osborne Street where they then used the paint on the window of the Money Shop on the faces of the females.

‘They police officers arrived and the defendants ran away. They were then stopped by police, arrested and interviewed and they gave full and frank admissions as to what they had done.

‘They told them that the way the women had been photographed was against their religion and they said it was a sin in Islam for a male to look twice at a woman who is not covered.

‘If a man looks at a woman the first time it could be accidental, but if they look again it is a sin and they did not want children and other people seeing the image of these woman who were not covered.

‘Consequently they began to paint over burkas around the faces of the women. When arrested, Mr Hasnath’s clothes were covered in black paint and they also had the brushes on them.

A knife attack in the ancient Silk Road city of Kashgar on Saturday saw seven people killed and 28 hurt by two knife-wielding assailants.
One of the attackers was later killed in violence that erupted at a night market, government authorities said.
Hou Hanmin, spokeswoman for the government of the northwestern region, told AFP the attackers were both members of the mainly Muslim Uighur ethnic minority, adding the suspect who was still alive had been detained....
An explosion rocked city on Sunday, killing three people, including a police officer, and injuring three others, the official Xinhua news agency reported.
Police had already detained two suspects, Xinhua said, although it was not immediately clear what had caused the blasts....

Uh, maybe jihad?

According to tianshannet.com, a website run by the regional government, the suspects in Saturday's attack hijacked a truck that was waiting at a light at the food market in Kashgar, not far from the border with Kyrgyzstan. They killed the driver, ploughed the vehicle into passers-by on a nearby pavement, then got out of the truck and stabbed people at random, leaving six bystanders dead before the crowd turned on them and killed one attacker.
An English-language report from Xinhua said two blasts were heard before the incident, saying the first came from a minivan and the other was heard almost simultaneously and originated from the market....
Dilxat Raxit, a spokesman for the Germany-based World Uyghur Congress -- an exile group -- cited local sources as saying the assailants had clashed with members of a civilian force that maintains public security.
"This incident is hard to believe but must be addressed. Beijing should accept the responsibility that repression triggered this incident," he said.

Of course. It is never the responsibility of the jihadists or their allies. And as always, it is a response to oppression -- although ironically, we never seem to see this kind of behavior from the non-Muslims who suffer oppression in Muslim societies such as Egypt, Pakistan and Indonesia:

Many Uighurs are unhappy with what they say has been decades of political and religious repression, and the unwanted immigration of China's dominant Han ethnic group. While standards of living have improved, Uighurs complain that most of the gains go to the Han.
This tension has triggered sporadic bouts of violence in Xinjiang -- a vast, arid but resource-rich region bordering Central Asia, home to more than eight million Turkic-speaking Uighurs.
Earlier this month, more than 20 people were killed in a violent clash with police in the remote city of Hotan.
State media quoted an official in Xinjiang as saying that clash was a "terrorist" attack, adding that four people including a police officer were killed when a crowd set upon a police station.
But Uighur activists called it an outburst of anger by ordinary Uighurs and said security forces beat 14 people to death and shot dead six others during the unrest.

Here is a more realistic account of what happened there.

In the nation's worst ethnic violence in decades, Uighurs savagely attacked Han Chinese in the regional capital Urumqi in July 2009 -- an incident that led to retaliatory attacks by Han on Uighurs several days later. The government says around 200 people were killed and 1,700 injured in the violence, which shattered the authoritarian Communist Party's claims of harmony among the country's dozens of ethnic groups.
China threw a huge security clampdown onto Xinjiang after the violence, and many Uighurs are enraged by the arrests and alleged disappearances of people rounded up across the region in the aftermath....

For four weeks the 28 children have had to stay indoors in the kindergarten
that is adjacent to a synagogue in Oslo. The decision was made in meeting
between the security personnel of the synagogue, Police Security Service
(PST) and parents.

Kindergarten manager, Anne Stine Mazrachi, is afraid that something
unpleasant may happen. During the war in Gaza, Hamas announced that Jewish
institutions and Jews all over the world are targets of their revenge. The
kindergarten is part of the congregation and synagogue. We have drawn the
conclusion that it is not safe to let the kids out, said Mazrachi to Dagen
Magazine.

Anne Stine Mizrachi thinks it is sad that people are not able to differentiate between being a Jew and Israel’s policy at any time. She is also concerned about the children.

We wonder what this does to children’s identity- that they are not permitted to go out and you must keep them hidden in a free country like Norway. During trips we cannot wear clothes that say “The Jewish Kindergarten,” she says.

"Norway, a country that used to be very pro-Israel, has turned into one of the most anti-Israel countries in Europe today," within both government and public opinion.

That's according to Dr. Asle Toje, a researcher at the BI Norwegian School of Management and foreign policy adviser to the Progress Party of Norway (Fremskrittspartiet).

Toje is a staunch advocate of Siv Jensen, chairwoman of the main opposition Progress Party, who has recently come under fire for her pro-Israel stance. Following her appearance at a pro-Israel rally in Oslo on January 8, Jensen began receiving death threats, and is now under 24-hour security supervision.

"I have never experienced this kind of hatred in Norway," said Toje, who was present at the demonstration. "There were people throwing stones at and spitting on rally-goers. Afterward, people carrying Israeli flags were randomly attacked in the streets."

Along with expressions of support for Israel, speakers at the rally, including Jensen, called for aid to be distributed in Gaza and for a cease-fire agreement to be signed. "It was a peaceful rally," said Toje. "Jensen was calling for the same things as Barack Obama. The difference is that she was doing it in Norway. The environment here is different."

The Socialist Left Party (Sosialistisk Venstreparti), which is part of the current coalition, has proposed a number of boycotts against Israel since the government was formed in 2005.

Israeli/Nazi comparisons and anti-Semitic incidents are now commonplace, Toje said.

On January 21, Etgar Lefkovits reported in The Jerusalem Post on an e-mail sent out by Trine Lilleng, a senior Norwegian diplomat based in Saudi Arabia. "The grandchildren of Holocaust survivors from World War II are doing to the Palestinians exactly what was done to them by Nazi Germany," Lilleng wrote.

Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Labor), in his recent memoir, To Make a Difference, makes an implicit comparison, noting, when writing of Hebron: "Most of the shops have been shut down. The shudders have been bolted and are marked by signs from the Israeli police. They are marked, as other shops have been marked at other places and at other times."

In August 2006, Jostein Gaardner, an esteemed Norwegian author and a friend of Støre's, published an op-ed in the Aftenposten daily under the headline, "God's chosen people."

Gardner wrote, in reaction to the Second Lebanon War, "We don't believe in the notion of God's chosen people. We laugh at this people's capriciousness and weep at its misdeeds. To act as God's chosen people is not only stupid and arrogant, but a crime against humanity. We call it racism."

A week later, Gaarder penned another op-ed, expressing his "regret if I have hurt anyone - though I intended and still intend to be harsh in my critique of the State of Israel."

In September 2006, 10 shots were fired at an Oslo synagogue, but no one was hurt. The shooter, Arfan Bhatti, "wished to kill women and children coming out of the synagogue,"Aftenposten reported.

On June 2, 2008, Bhatti was acquitted of terrorism charges and convicted of "aggravated vandalism." He is now serving an eight-year prison sentence.

Norway's approximately 1,500 Jews, who live mainly in Oslo and Trondheim, have experienced a fair amount of anti-Semitism, Toje said.

Airlift them to Israel. Norway does not deserve any Jews.

He posited that this was connected with the mass immigration from Muslim countries that began in the 1970s.

NTNU academic Trond Andresen believes the talk of anti-Semitism is a derailment tactic. Meanwhile in Oslo, taxis refuse to take Jews to the Synagogue.

A young girl writes to Aftenposten, asking when anti-Semitism will end. One thing is for certain, it won’t end unless we take it seriously.

The letter is published in Aftenposten under the title “Jew – a swear word“. Summary: A teenager tells of how the word “Jew” is used as a swear word, even by her friends. She also tells of how visiting relatives were turned down – twice – when trying to take a taxi to the Synagogue, where they were going to attend a Bar Mitzva.

Reports like this have been coming in for a long time.

It does not help when people like Trond Andresen, an academic at prestigious NTNU university, marches in the streets carrying placards saying that all this talk of anti-Semitism in a derailment tactic. The only people being derailed are elderly Jews trying to go to a Bar Mitzva, for God’s sake.

The Jewish graveyard in Sofienberg Oslo has been vandalised. Many graves have had Nazi symbols painted on them. The vandalisme took place on Thursday. The case has been reported to the police. On one of the gravestones "The war continues" was written.

This is a Swedish blogger posting about an incident in Norway. The blogger comments that the cemetery is in a Muslim area. The blogger suspects Muslims and comments that the Norwegian press and police suspect Neo-Nazis.
Either way, it's the same thing. -- it's despicable. And the world permits it. The police prefer 'neo-nazis'; they will never say it is Islamic anti-semitism.

I just attended a pro-Israel rally in downtown Oslo (the capital of Norway). The terrorists and radical socialists were surrounding the fenced-in area where the peaceful assembly took place, chanting their vicious slogans and throwing eggs. The situation escalated as they began throwing bottles and rocks, then ultimately firebombs, injuring numerous senior citizens. They're still creating havoc in downtown Oslo, which is practically blanketed in teargas. They're all marching on the Israeli embassy now. You can watch some of it unfold here:

Despite the horribly biased media, which tends to favor Hamas in the name of so-called "solidarity", I trust more Norwegians will start to realize which side represents civilization and life, and which side represents barbarism and death, in this conflict.

One 12-year-old rape victim was told by her Muslim rapist, "He said he had the right to do exactly as he wanted to a woman." Mind you, he is saying this to a 12-year-old. "Why?" "Because that is how it was in his religion. Women did not have rights or opinions, he was in charge."
This is madness. Consider that Lars Hedegaard was on trial for "racism" for speaking of the sexual violence against Muslim females in a private conversation. And the priest Jesper Langballe was last year fined 5000 dollars for publicly backing up Hedegaard's opinions.

I walk down the street every morning to the metro station, and in the morning rush I always get sly glances, "kissing notions" and sleasy comments thrown my way, and they come from - without any exception - from our "cultural enrichers". Sexual harassment has become a part of everyday life here in Oslo, and I would never dream of going home alone after dark in this city. That is an invitation for rape.

Once upon a time a woman could walk home at any time of the day or night, and she would be completely safe. But that is a long, long time ago. Both in Oslo and Bergen there are demands for full academic and cultural boycotts of everything connected with Israel. The boycott is supposed to be far reaching. Yesterday the prestigious Holberg prize was awarded to Frederic Jameson. Exactly two years ago it went to Shmuel N. Eisenstadt of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. That enraged the author of this autumn’s new boycott booklet, Ebba Wergland, prompting her to write an article in the academic paper Replikk. She wrote that he should never have received the prize, since he was an academic representative of the Israeli “apartheid state”.

The thought is horrible: An independent awarding of prizes based on academic merit should be subjected to political considerations thereby isolating independent researchers.

It's not a "political consideration", it is deep hatred and jealousy of the Jews. "Israel" the Jew haters argument to an age old hate. "Political" is the cloak of their deception.

The financial crisis makes him more worried.

2009: JIHAD ON THE JEWS: Something rotten in the state of Norway

On Saturday there was another demonstration in front of the Parliament building, this time with children in "bloodsoaked" clothes at the front of the march. In spite of several brutal confrontations outside the Israeli embassy Basim Ghozlan, leader of the Islamic Union, urgfed the demonstrators to proceed to the embassy where police were waiting. The children suddenly found themselves sandwiched between police barriers and the surging violent demonstrators pushing from behind. Panic ensued.

Police detained 160 people, most of them young people of Middle Eastern/North African origin. Three kids - 12 to 13 year olds - told how they had been led by a hard core to smash seven MacDonald's restaurants. Then the cry rang out: "To the university to chase Jews."
One should think that the papers woud be full of denunciations and shock that Jews are once again fair game in the streets of Oslo. The last time was under the German occupation during World War II. But there is a strange silence. A few innuendos: "We deplore expressions of racism" etc. But no real shakeup. Why not?

One answer: There is no firewall between criticism of Israel and antisemitism and one is afraid of criticizing the Muslims. An inverse situation: unchecked criticism of Israel, and very timid critcism of Muslims. The situation is not unique in Europe, but seems to deteriorate quickly. A caricature in Norway's largest daily, VG, gives an indication.

Norway resident convicted of blasphemy
A Kurdish author with asylum in Norway was sentenced in absentia in Iraq last month to six months imprisonment for blasphemy.
Two years ago author Mariwan Halabjaee wrote "Sex, sharia and women in the history of Islam". Here he wrote that the prophet Mohammed had 19 wives, married a nine-year-old when he was aged 54 and that he took part in murder and rape. Last month a court in Halabja convicted him of blasphemy in absentia.
Halabjaee has lived in hiding in Norway for one and a half years. The sentence states that he should be arrested upon his return to north Iraq but he has now been granted asylum in Norway, newspaper Bergens Tidende reports on its web site.
The writer has had 14 books published. Halabjaee says that he has received a series of death threats and that there is a fatwa saying he should be punished by death unless he asks forgiveness.
Halabjaee also believes Norway is naive about radical Islamist groups that he says authorities allow to develop without control on Norwegian soil.
"Norway has protected me against the terrorists and I hope to be able to play a role in this democratic system. But I am alone and feel imprisoned. I have little contact with people and have to move carefully. Even if I have lived here a year and a half no cultural or other organizations have contacted me," Halabjaee says.

It is unpleasant to acknowledge, but Muslim terror plots are always underway wherever there are sizable Muslim populations. Of course not all share the majority Islamic goal of world conquest under Sharia Law and not everyone acts on their beliefs.

We have been lucky in the past couple of days: major attacks were foiled throughout Europe, although an attack in Pakistan was successful.

2007: Email from Norway

I am running an email I received from an Atlas reader in Norway. It is devastating in its


matter-of-factness.

Well, yes, the situation is worsening. Stepping up from 29 000 immigrants every year, in 2007 we will be getting a total of 35 000 immigrants from somalia, iran, iraq and afghanistan. The nations capital is already 50% muslim, and they ALL go there after entering Norway. Adding the 1.2 births per woman per year from muslim women, there will be 300 000+ muslims out of the then 480 000 inhabitants of that city.
Orders from Libya and Iran say that Oslo will be known as Medina at the latest in 2010, although I consider this a PR-stunt nevertheless it is their plan.
From Israel the hordes clawing at the walls of Jerusalem proclaim cheerfully that next year there will be no more Israel, and I know Israel shrugs this off as do I, and will mount a strike during the summer against all of its enemies in the middle east. This will make the muslims worldwide go into a frenzy, attacking everyone around them.
We are stockpiling and caching weapons, ammunition and equipment. This is going to happen fast.
Before, I thought about emigrating to Britain, Israel, USA, South Africa, etc. for taxes and politics, but instead (although I believe we are the very last generation on earth before the return of God) I will stay and fight for the right to this country and indeed the entire peninsula, for the God-fearing people, just in case this isn't the end of the world after all. Doesn't hurt to have a backup plan.
It's far from impossible to achieve, after all my people has done it every time before, in feats that match the ancient greek, hebrew and british "legends".
Oslo and the southeast may fall easily, but there are other lines than "state"-borders drawn across this country since long before there was even a single muslim in the world, and we have held them this long, against everyone else too. We are entering a new golden age for my people, and those of a handful other countrys, but only through struggle.
Never fear, Pamela. God is with you too in this coming time.
